It’s your turn

We are in exciting times! We are the times when history is being made and documented. We are in one of the best times in the world to be alive. Time has never been so fast, technology never so advanced and the world never felt so small! It’s a great time to be born, and a great time to be alive!

I know that what you are reading might sound contrary to your present experience, I know that there is a lot going on right now that make it all look like there is nothing good in sight. With bank chiefs losing their jobs and their rights to walk as free men – you might wonder who is free. With so many of our applauded wealthy men neck deep in non-performing loans – you might wonder who is rich. With our elected political office holders telling us to go and form our own country, it all looks bleak and hopeless.  The headlines these days are sensational, the big ark Nigeria seems rocked by the storms. With all these happening all around you however, it takes special revelation to know that we are right now, in the midst of GREAT times! Continue reading

The Shadows of Light

Light casts shadows! Does that sound new to you? Well it need not be, everything good has it’s down sides, that’s why there is a need for management. We need to be able to manage whatever good thing we are doing, in such a way that the negative effects of it are not so brutal. If you really think about it, you can locate a downside for any good thing.

The shadows that light casts are a function of the obstacles on the pathway of light.  In the seasons of darkness, when direction is unclear and things are scattered, light brings clarity, brings hope, brings opportunities, but within the pathway of obstacles, the darkness that exists behind these people is hightened. A case study of the shadows that light brings, is what is currently happening in Lagos State Nigeria. Continue reading

How to Shine in Darkness

I am not sure if I ever mentioned what this year was for me, in case I didn’t, it’s my year of shining. At the time I accepted that as my word for the year, I didn’t have clarity on how much darkness would exist. I was more interested however in knowing what I needed to do so that my light could shine.  It’s one thing to be a light, it’s another thing to shine the light.

There is no gainsaying that if you have any light in you, this year is one of the best times in the history of the world to shine it. People will move from absolute obscurity to prominence this year. People will rally round carriers of light. This is the year that if you have knowledge, information, the capacity to enlighten or educate, you will be sought after. Darkness is covering the earth, and gross darkness it’s people, but as always, that darkness provides an opportunity for some to shine. So the question today is since we know that there is darkness, how do we shine in these times. Continue reading

FG,Agencies Predict: Darkness

“For behold, darkness will cover the earth  And deep darkness the peoples;  But the LORD will rise upon you  And His glory will appear upon you. “Nations will come to your light,  And kings to the brightness of your rising.” – Isa 60:2,3

In my native language there is a proverb that says that describes an unfortunate situation. It’s the situation where the person you have trust to help you blow out specks from your eyes has pepper in his or her mouth or where the person you depend on to scratch your back has thorns in his or her hands. When war gets to a point where the choice men of war in town begin to run, what becomes the of the peasants?

One of the shocking headlines in the dailies yesterday was the FG of Nigeria and it’s agencies have budgeted N2 billion to fuel their generators in 2009. The state house – the seat of power and the home of the president was said to have a budget of about N27 million for fuel and another N14.3 million for maintenance. The Police force will spend about N110 million while the national assembly, over N466 million for acquisition of alternative power, fueling and maintenance.

What instructions can we take from all these? Read on. Continue reading
