Do You Have Dreams?

{Sightseeing should start tomorrow. You can keep up with the interesting things in Egypt as I try to give daily updates on my twitter section here or on facebook. Should see the pyramids closely tommorrow, then go for a 3 days cruise on the Nile. Tomorrow, I might be interviewing an inspirational South African Lady I met here… just thinking out loud :) )

We all grew up as young children full of dreams. We wanted to become this, to have that, and to go everywhere. When we saw an aircraft on TV, we wanted one, when we saw a big house, we dreamt we would own it, we even fantasised about the definition of beauty that the media had sold to us. If every anything we were dreamers, our imaginations ran ahead of our realities, we wanted more from life than mere existence. We had big dreams, and somehow in our minds, we were unstoppable.  As a child, I can’t remember ever worrying about how I was going to ever study Aeronautics Engineering.

As we grow up however, our dreams grow with us, but somewhere along the line, many of us lose the youthfulness to dream. We are so caught up in waking up early, spending quality time in traffic, coming back late, that we have lost our dreams. We have become realists, we face the facts rather than the possibilities, we live the lives of drugged zombies, repeating the same routine day in day out, and hoping for the “one day”. If it is true, that repeating the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is insanity, then we might indeed need to submit ourselves to some counselling. Some of us however have dreams, we still nurse them, we still hold them dear and are working towards them.

The question for you today is “What is your dream?” What is the compelling reason that motivates you to action? I watched a video presentation yesterday that inspired me and there was something the speaker said that really really got my attention.  He said, and I phrase in my own words, “A business opportunity is like a Ferrari, it’s a lovely car. We might however spend undue time looking at it and touching it. If you don’t know where you are going however, any car is useless.”

Nothing happens unless first we dream – Carl Sandburg

Does it not seem interesting to you, that many of us have entered different CAReerS without setting our destination?  Many of us got into many even good pipe building systems without any dreams. I’m not asking about hazy thoughts of wanting a better life, I’m asking for concrete and specific desires that are tangible and documented. This may sound funny, but if you think about it,  you’ll possibly arrive at the same conclusion with me – If you don’t have a dream for anything, you will not excel at anything. It’s not the quality of the car that matters, or the potentials or capacity of the same. What matters is, do you know where you are going? Speed only makes sense when direction is clear.

A man’s dreams are an index to his greatness.- Zadok Rabinowitz

Before you involve yourself in any business – franchising, network marketing, direct selling, first of all identify with your dream. Write it down, then break it down. What milestones do you want to achieve, what things do you want, and who do you want to become? If the dream is not compelling, then there is no motivation. The people that succeed the most in any business opportunity, are the ones with strong reasons and clearly expressed dreams. The reciepy for getting tired, frustrated or bored is not to have something to look forward to.

Two people with equal talent but with different dreams will arive at different destinations. When you see a man or woman that has a compelling reason, the passion, the excitement and a positive mental attitude become addons. When you see another complaining and acting powerless to do anything, it’s easy to conclude that there is either no dream, or the one he or she has is sketchy at best. Dreams are basic, some call it goals others vision. Don’t board any vehicle, without clarifying where you are going! I can almost guarantee ultimate failure,  in whatever venture you go into without clarity about your dreams.  In the same breath, I can almost guarantee success however, if you have a dream even if you neither have talent nor gold.

“Dreams are like stars…you may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny.” – Unknown

“Your dream is something you want, that you are willing to pay any price to achieve it. It’s something that lingers in your mind, something that can compel you to action”. Most times it’s not as if we don’t habour these thoughts once in a while, we only sometimes stop believing.

Do you have dreams? Do you want to see the world? Do you want to build you own house? Do you want to buy that car?Do you want to buy your own house? Do you want your kids in the best schools? Do you want to go on vacation thrice a year? Do you want to be a global player? Will you reach a million people? Will you win awards?  Do you want a golf course? Do you want to be Governor? Do you want an orphanage? Do you want an island? Do you have anything you are living for? What are your dreams?  The first thing we do during cashflow 101 is chose our dreams.  Take these thoughts, and document them. Keep a copy in your wallet, keep a copy in your room, keep it on your laptop. Give a copy to your mentor, send me one too if you think I can hold you accountable, make sure you see it daily! If your dream is not real to you, clear to you, and around you, it’s not likely going to happen.

Dream no small dreams for they have no power to move the hearts of men.- Goethe

  3. Someone had a dream and he gave us Dubai. Someone had a dream and he gave us Singapore. Someone had a dream in US and inequality became a thing of the past. People may leave us but our dreams stays with us.

I have seen some of my dreams come true…and yet i still see more come to reality.

thanks brov and have a lovely holiday..please give all the details will visit too

  6. Hmm…. thought provoking and action mobilizer as usual.
The best of dreams, however, is the dream that will ultimately affect the lives of others positively. Martin Luther King Jnr’s dream outlived him because it was to better the lives of others. The dreams that truly outlives us are those that will put the orphans to school, change the life of an addict, affect posterity.
Thanks my brother for even finding time even during you vacation…it shows to me that you truly have a dream.

  7. Strong article, just strenghtened me the more.

  9. Hi,
It was a dream that brought Barack Obama to where he is today.
Please, wake up and have a dream. God bless u Deolu.

  10. Enjoy your well deserved holiday,

I have a dream and I pray God gives me the strenght to accomplish it, because it’s so huge and alot bigger than me.

  11. CM, I DEY DREAM O OOOOOOOO. IN FACT, PARIS IN JUNE IS CONSTANTLY IN MY DREAM NOW. AND A VIRTUOUS WOMAN, TO LOVE AND TO HOLD WITH WHOM I’LL SPEND THE REST OF MY LIFE…..I DREAM OF FINANCIAL FREEDOM, AFRICAN EMANCIPATION….A NEW NIGERIA.

  12. I have seen some of my dreams come to reality, it has only pushed me to have bigger dreams. Until documented, dreams are just fleeting thoughts, that are, well, fleeting. Nothing gets done until it is fore-seen (dreamt). Thanks for sharing Chairman.

  13. CM, I DEY DREAM OOOO.

HOPE MY PROBLEM IS THAT I’M NOT WAKING UP. OH! DREAMS! DREAMS!! HOW COME YOU ARE SO EASY TO HAVE AND NOT SO SEE TO BE REALISED.

  14. Deolu, the importance of having a dream cannot be overemphasized. God had to take Abraham out to see the stars when he was finding it difficult to comprehend what God had told him he would be-The father of many nations. ‘Dreams of today are the realities of tommorrow’.My mother is a perfect example of a dreamer, although she does not write down her dreams but she has a picture in her mind for everything she desires. Sometimes her dream might not look feasible to us but I can testify that most of her dreams do come true.Obama’s emergence as the president of the most perwerful nation in the world too started like a dream. A dream that many thought might never come true .This is a lesson to all of us that even though people may not believe in us or in our dreams we owe ouselves a duty to believe in our dreams.I am sure Deolu’s blog began as a dream, a dream to motivate people and help them achieve their goals and aspirations. I leave co readers to decide if the dream has become a reality or not.

‘THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS.’

  15. Dreams are good. Anybody can dream. But, dream not backed up with a corresponding propelling force and action is bound to sink in the boat of stagnancy

  16. Hun! One of the bible characters I love is Joseph. He had a dream and lived it. No dream is ever easy to live. Some people who thought pipe building is a waste of time will say things that will surely discourage you from living out the dream. A man without a dream is an accident going somewhere to happen. The worst thing that can happen to a woman is to get married to a man without dreams. If a man marry a woman without dreams, he has just laid the foundation for raising a generation of children going no where.
I have a dream, it’s not too big, and it will happen.
Lest I forget, That living room looks beautiful. Is that the dream living room?

  17. dream no small dreams for they have know power to move the heart of men.WORD.
Its a simple thing, let our dreams be bigger than ourselves so that it steer us to achieving that which we have set our mind on.When your dream is big,you generate ideas and one you can generate an idea, you can definitely rule the world.nice piece deolu.Am still interested in knowing how to do network marketing.

  18. meaningful and great dreams come up when their is harmony between ones spirit, body and soul! not just a wishful desire!

Lord i need ur grace 2 dream fresh dreams!

  19. Oga Deolu you too much jooo.you just add more light on what i just finish reading on how far our immagination can lead us to acheiving our dreams.I wish you a happy stay in egypt.Oh! before i forget I HAVE A DREAM OOOOOOOOOOO May God help me.

  20. My Prophet ! This is dreaming and writing from an Egyptian bed..the center of civiliation and land of dreams! i beg dream all of us into greater things as you dream o! lol
, @ Papa O.Emmanuel and Ireti I. I feel you guys o and others..if you dream and the dream is not bigger than you and friaghtens you to come to pass, then its not from God but from you..since you do not need God to bring it to pass..Joseph needed God to fulfill his dream..so for me..my dream is to better lives for God but in so many ways that it friaghtens me…but becos i know God is everything and too much and He has got my back..i dream on with my eyes opened and closed! open as i take what i want…a car..i put it, specs and all where i can see it..and start praying and meditating on it…results have been awesome as most things i have done like that has come to pass…(i beg do not go and cut Deolu’s blog and start claiming it o or another persons’ wife and husband!lol.).This most be your true desire according to God’s perfect will…i have visited countries by doing this..praying with a picture..a dream in my heart and Jehovah the God that bring dreams to pass honors me and its done!…so people dream o…endless dream but when you know the Godof dreams through his son Jesus Christ..any dream is POSSIBLE! Shallom!

  21. Quiet insightful! Like i say no passion no accomplishment,we all dream dreams but how much do we fall in love with our dreams.Imagine when you are in love with a person, you will want to do anything to have that person that to me i say is how we should treat our dreams,we should see it,move towards it,speak to it,buy all it will take to keep it,win it over, nuture it,aquire it and groom it.

  22. I have a dream…My dream shall be fulfilled because IT IS WRITTEN.

Watching Slumdog Millionaire and reading this in one week is intoxicating me.

My dreams shall be fulfilled because it is written. No matter what i go through, everything is working together for the fulfillment of my dreams..

Thanks you sir for another inspiring note

  23. This is truly inspiring and though provoking. God bless you richly Deolu. It just occurred to me that alot of people easily say I have a dream without really knowing what their dreams are.

  24. Yes, i love this article. All great men are dreamers, if u can dream it then you can achieve it. We shall all fulfil our dreams.

  25. @ Mama Biddy.Thanx. I’m yet to see your birthday grubbs I’ve been dreaming for some days now…lol.
You’re very correct that our dreams must be big enough to demand God’s help. It is said that the largest nation on earth is IMAGInation…we are endowed by God to imagine anything that will glorify Him. Those who imagined to build the tower of Babel were going to reach heaven before He interrupted them.
I’m still dreaming o… God Bless you

  26. Well, Nice one as always Deolu, enjoy your stay in Egypt, I will start to write down my dreams, clearly and point blank from now on! I used to jot them down and meditate on them everyday. but, guess i need to read a re-read everyday. God bless you!

  27. I’ve being a part of BLC at DLA for the past 2wks and I have heard and seen the evidence of dreams coming to pass. We may give a lot of excuses why dream may be hard in coming to pass in Naija but I think the supernatural works in such a way to help our dreams come to pass. While the dream must be bigger than us, we can only start the journey little by little and as well develop the capacity to manage our dream. i heard several of my facilitators saying God wont give a man what he doesnt have the capacity to handle. Whatever our dreams, let’s start developing our capacity to manage it, who knows luck (like lazybones used to say)will soon shine on us. I’m sure Chairman had being to the places he is now in his dreams before getting there. I’m also dreaming guys, don’t get jealous if luck smile at me soonest. The capacity to dream is one of the greatest power man will ever have in his lifetime. Dead men cant dream. Use it!

  28. @Jide….luck don’t smile on people, u need to make it happen..Somebody had define LUCK as Labouring Under Correct Knowledge…The Knowledge is the dreams you have, make it happen bit by bit!

@CM…hope you will take pictures of the Nile et all so we can see. U need to create a photo page on your site to oo..

  29. Thank you so much mr.It will always take a man who has realised his purpose to know that he has a dream to pursue and not just a wishful thinking about success. One love!

  30. Thank you for the article, it helped me recap on my dreams…This is a compelling force built to facilitate the world…’my dream is to help people around realize their goals’ I am a facilitating agent!
    Enjoy your weekend sir,
    Obinna UniQuehnd

  31. tanx dee
but we needn’t just dream alone,
we got to pursue it to reality.
someone once said that the day you stop pursuing a dream, is the day you start dying. in other words for you to maximize your days on earth, you must always have a dream you are pursuing.
    1luv

  32. If your dreams dont frighten you, then you have not started dreaming is indeed a virtuos statement. Because thats one of the time we all need divine help.
I have seen some of my dreams come true, i prayed to have money so that i can study in America for my PhD and here i am in America. The larger of my dreams is with me and i hope to share it someday.
I believe in writing ones dreams down as it helps to keep focus. Thank you Deolu.
