I thought long and hard about the topic of this post. What can I title it that will make it capture the urgency of the now, and at the same time retain the timeless signature I want every article I write to bear? It suddenly struck me, that the best way to put it, is as I have, “Don’t miss this!”

What is this that you shouldn’t miss? Two things, one, don’t miss an awesome event taking place this weekend – The Avenues to Wealth Award Ceremony and family night of fun and excitement. This event is marking the second year anniversary of an exciting company called Holidays and Cash, now rebranding as Avenues to Wealth. In this event, we’ll be entertained and informed, it’s infotainment at it’s peak. There will be music, comedy, dance and enlightenment. The event is featuring one of the foremost icons and entrepreneurial brands in Nigeria – Prof Pat Utomi, Global wealth creation expert, Prof Dolf De Roos, Africa’s Ace comedian – Basket Mouth, many musical acts, dance competitions, raffle draws and so much fun. The hottest news on the Nigerian landscape today, are the inner maneuvers of those who desire to rule or lead us. Please pardon my seeming use of tautology, there is a world of difference between ruling and leading, we might actually not know the difference, haven been ruled for too long! There is an ongoing battle for the steering wheel of Nigeria, a lot of young people are being lobbied in different directions, myself inclusive. The strange phone calls from people whose reputations you only knew, the show of appreciation for the efforts that are almost 10yrs old that never won any notice, the invitations to meetings with the who is who? Handshakes are fast becoming tight hugs, the battle for the soul of the nation, is done on negotiation tables for the hearts of it’s youth.  Continue reading

N100 Internet!

It’s amazing how new great things happen and it somehow eludes many of us. I’ve been actively online on my own terms for about 5yrs now, within that space of time like many other people, I have tried all sorts. Having internet access is critical to personal development, almost all the answers you are looking for are available if you can search for it, the Achilles heels in Nigeria however has been internet access. One one side, you have costs, and on the other hand you have the challenge of functionality and coverage.

In the quest to have consistent internet access, or what I call internet-on-demand, I have tried! Multilinks, Starcomms, Glo, MTN, Zain, IPNX, Cobranet, DOPC, VSAT, Reltel, Oduatel e.t.c. Most of these I have personally owned, and interestingly still own and for the last two, I have tried out with friends. I also travel a lot, and have found some of the less reliable ones reliable in other places. I also use a blackberry, all to ensure that I’m always in touch, and always connected to the world. Afterall, you are the same person you were 5yrs ago, except for two things – New People and New Information. A few weeks ago, I got wind of some innovative price slash and re-bundling that MTN was doing. Looking at the details of what the new prices are, there is almost no reason today not to be in touch or be informed. Students, Workers, Job Seekers, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises, Entrepreneurs of all shapes and sizes, now have an interesting deal, that may even set the pace for much more. Please find below an exciting price slash and innovative product bundle that is sure to delight many more. Continue reading

Test Yourself

Nokia Answers: 1. C, 2. B, 3. A, 4. C, 5. D

Nokia C3 Winner: Adebowale Ojo (Based on Correct answers and timing)

It amazes me how many people live their lives on easy street. Ask them what they are doing currently, and the tell you about their work and daily commute, Seems uneventful, boring and typical. You ask what challenge they are facing, and the toughest they can come up with is the challenge of not having sufficient funds or something interesting that money quite easily solves. Nothing real, nothing mind racking.

Read this and understand – the easy road does not lead to greatness!  If greatness is your desire, you must be willing to change your current direction. The path of least resistance is a crooked path, if you want to blaze trails and be a leader, you have to be comfortable with rough roads. If you want to be an overcomer, you have to overcome. No examination, no promotion! If you want to get to the next level, life needs to put you in exam mode or you need to test yourself! Continue reading
