How I Started Blogging
I usually write my titles before I start writing. The titles usually motivate me to write. Looking up at this title today, and seeing what lies ahead of me, I know that this must be a lot briefer than it should be.
Right now I’m in Ikeja, I’ll be in Maryland by 3pm, and I need to be in the UK for a meeting tomorrow morning - Billionaires in Training. I need to also be back almost immediately as I have other meetings and engagments all over the place. I really desire to write everyday, this is my ideal, but atimes things just swing into accelarated mode, that I catching my breath is a struggle. Blogging is still a first love for me, I feel like telling the whole world to join me online as well, and let’s position ourselves as Nigeria’s New Media.
Tomorrow will make it exactly 3yrs after I made my first. 3 sentences post on blogosphere. I remember starting then, going on for about 3 days then having a 5 months break before I posted again. In those 5 months, I could very much have stopped, but somehow, I kept getting reminders like this post, and decided to go for it. Today, I’m 1 blogger, with about 450 posts, 9000 comments, and 400,000 visitors. I didn’t know how powerful having a blog was, until I gave it a good shot. Many people who have heard me speak, know that I am a story teller. I love stories, I enjoy hearing them as much as I enjoy sharing them. I have often discovered also that people love stories as well, so somehow we connect, and 5yrs after I speak somewhere, I still meet people that remind me of the stories that I told them. This shows me that story telling does work. While writing a story and telling them are two different things, I very well prefer to tell than to write, because in telling I get to feel the crowds pulse, read their excitement, follow the twists and turns, and tell the story in a unique way for every crowd. On Sunday I was opportuned to present this story before a crowd of about 1000 people, and truthfully, even I enjoyed the story in a different way.
Once upon a time, there was a young man. This young man had a dream, a goal an aspiration that one day he would become the number 1 clown in his country. He had gone for a seminar where he had been thought to analyze his skills and write down his goal and vision, and for him, it all pointed to being a clown of repute. As soon as he discovered this, he started searching for materials on clowning, and started reading and developing himself in earnest. He went to watch other clowns perform, interacted with a few people about his dreams and invested heavily in developing himself. (more…)

Lunch Date
There is so much personal development material on the street of daily activity, that it takes not wanting to consciously learn not to grow. In the last few days, I’ve come to see two interesting sides of a coin. That associations can bring good, and they can bring bad. That common meetings with other mortals, or access to the mind of great men via their books, are some of the most life changing events on this planet.
I learnt, that once upon a time, there was a young lawyer who sought help from an older lawyer. The young lawyer was finding it hard to practice litigation, he had no clients, and it wasn’t looking like there was light at the end of his tunnel. The old lawyer had gone through this time as well, but now was a big time popular lawyer who made lots of money from big cases. He begged the big lawyer to give him his small briefs, so at least he also could have some crumbs that fall off the big table. The old lawyer informed him, that there was no small brief - lawyers only know the beginning of a brief, no one knows how big the brief would be. The young lawyer was disappointed that the old lawyer was not helpful, and turned to leave. The old lawyer however stopped him and told him that even though he could give him nothing, he was willing to have lunch date with him at a future date, but would like them to stroll together from his office down about 2km to where they would eat lunch. The young lawyer felt a bit insulted that all he was going to get was lunch, but reluctantly agreed. The set day came and they had the long walk to lunch. 2-3months after this lunch he started getting calls, briefs, and business. His fortune changed and he was so excited, he had a party, and invited the big lawyer to come and see how well he’s doing, even without his help. (more…)

On Death
“Zec 11:2 “Howl fir tree, for the cedar is fallen.”
Unrest hits the forest when all of a sudden the crashing sound of a mighty tree is heard. For them, it announces the presense of the woodman, and each is aware once again of it’s unbreakable appointment with the edge of the axe. Each remembers that it’s marked for death and there is an end to it’s journey in this frame of existence. All mortals must like the fir tree, howl and not scorn at the events that remind us of the temporary nature of life on earth. Death is the weightiest of all of life’s events, and he who does not prepare for death is worse than an ordinary fool. (more…)

I have come to discover that there is a lot that people do not know about Multi Level Marketing in Nigeria, and believe it or not, there are some things beginning to happen that indicate that those who have profited or lost but understand the systems are about to be rewarded. I know that there is a lot that people do not know about many things as well, many other things like manufacturing, refining, mining, agriculture e.t.c, but if I had the opportunity to start with one industry that I know has the power to empower people, particularly Nigerians the fastest I’ll chose Multilevel Marketing, Agriculture and then the others. I also know that the first reaction of most people to multilevel marketing might be negative, but believe it or not, you are missing out of some opportunities, and Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly is what makes people POOR.
Donald Trump is reported to have been asked, what will you do, if you suddenly became bankrupt today. He said “I’ll look for a good Multilevel Marketing company, and work my way to the top there.” Multilevel Marketing is business for people that are interested in helping others, it’s a business school in that, you work and learn. Once upon a time two 13yr old boys decided to each ask their fathers for the key to their father’s brand new BMWs. They met together to agree which of their fathers was nicer, and which loved or cared about them the most. They were in JSS 3, and a lot of their classmates claimed to be able to drive, except them. Some of them also claimed to drive their fathers cars, but not them. It wasn’t good, they thought, they believed that the only way to sort things out, was to ask their fathers.
The first boy, whose name I’ll refer to as Chike, decided to ask his dad as well. He explained to his dad that he wanted to drive his fathers BMW, and that he was feeling very aloof as all his classmates were driving except him. His father laughed heartily and told him to go face his books, that when the time was right, they’ll sit down together and have that conversation again. He went to his room with tears laid eyes, his father had not even given him sufficient attention before dismissing his proposition.
The second boy, whose name I’ll refer to as Segun, asked his father the same question, explaining the issues on ground and how driving this car to school will increase his social standing. The father, being a very understanding father, who understood the value of a social life, decided to indulge him and gave him the car keys. After a lot of struggle… starts stops and sharp movements… he got the hand of how to move the car. In the course of one full day, he scratches the car, steals from his dad to fix it before he finds out, gets to impress and hang out with wrong company, and gets into big time trouble! (more…)

Yesterday we had our regular New Nigeria Club sponsored Sunday seminar. We had two feature speakers, Niyi Adesanya and Kunle Awofolajin. Niyi Adesanya spoke about Public Speaking as a tool for financial empowerment, while Kunle Awofolajin spoke on Forex Trading as a tool for financial empowerment. These two presentations are a must hear. Somewhere in between introducing the two speakers, I had the opportunity of talking for 3 mins. I narrated a story that had been on my mind of late, and I think it’s good I share it with you as well. Once upon a time long ago, there was a rich widow. This widow was very rich but had no children. she had many maids, many employees and many friends, but few children. It so happened that it got to a time in her old age that she was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Everybody rallied around her and cared for her, until she became too much of a burden and one by one, they stopped showing up. It happened eventually that there was only one person left with her - an uneducated matron who loved the rich widow so much she was willing to dedicate her time to care for her until her death. In the weeks that followed, things deteriorated slowly until after a while, the rich widow could hardly speak. At this time, she knew that the end was near, and she decided to make signs to the matron and ultimately gave her something that seemed like a sheet of paper.

When I think about we humans, I often marvel. We are the greatest wonders of this planet. There is no known feat that human beings have not achieved. We have climbed the highest mountains, swam through unbelievable waters, conquered space and tamed the wildest beasts. Man has gained mastery over the water ways, man dictates the scope of burning fire. Man is a wonder and a bundle of potentials. In the current state of world conquest, and the finding of many answers, think about it - The only thing that man has not achieved, is what he has not set his eyes on as an goal.
In a world where the life span of science fiction is shrinking to less than 5yrs, as men are making what was fiction a few years ago reality today. In a world where the speed of translation of thought to deed is in nanoseconds, one thing is very clear - the human being is made unlimited by design, but empowered with the ability to create her own limits.
Think about your life? Why are you where you are doing what you are doing and no more? Answer this question, is this the best that you can be? Is this the full you? Or are you more than this? I’m sure you agree with me that there is more to you than were you are right now, and that you have more to offer than you currently are. You are where you are, because of the limitations you have put on yourself. Don’t feel all alone, it’s perfectly normal. You have the ability however to remove the cap off your capabilities and take of the lid off your limitations. Here are simple and practical steps you can use to restore yourself to default factory settings. You were made to live without limits! (more…)

I’ve been extremely busy lately as you must have noticed, I’ve bare had time to do many things, but one thing that never leaves my schedule daily is Learning! The day we stop learning is the day we start dying. Michelangelo said it well on his death bed, when he said -”still, I am learning”. I feel genuinely sorry for young people who allow their lives to just slide by. No conscious effort to add value to themselves, no conscious effort to take their lives out of the norms. Just going with the flow, waking, eating and sleeping. Learn… you have to learn everyday. That’s one of the reasons why this site is there, not only for you to read what is most current, but for you to go back to the past and learn.
If you have observed life well, you would have come to know, that the earth supports the negative trend. Rarely will you find maize gathering together somewhere to grow by themselves in commercial quantities -lol. Weed however needs no cultivation. In essence, you don’t need to do anything to grow wrong, just live life normally. The earth also supports the downward trend, it’s flight or upward movement that requires effort, coming down requires no work. Gravity pulls down! The rivers flow towards the lowest point… you want to end up a loser? Do nothing, just wake up when you feel like, eat regularly and sleep as soon as you feel like it.
Sorry for that detour, I’m sure someone needed that reminder. What I want to write about today is selling. If you read my previous articles on Selling, Selling 001 and Selling 002, you will see that selling is something I believe every human being should know a thing or two about. Whether you are a sales man on not, we all sell. We sell ourselves for a Job, a wife or promotion, we sell our perceptions - about football, a drink or someone else, we sell things - sometimes without knowing that is what we are doing. We sell ourselves, our friends e.t.c., we all sell. The most popular books are not written by the best authors, they are written by the best selling authors. Your ability to sell well, will go a long way to position you as the best in whatever your real specialization is. Selling is a skill that can be learnt.
