I’m sure many that will read this are conversant with the reality that whether or not we are conscious of it, we are scribbling history with our daily lives. This was literally done yesterday as we presented some great opportunities to the people that attended a New Nigeria Club organized Investors Forum. I’m going to share with you here, the key highlights and opportunities from that meeting, and a little extra.

A friend walked into my office last week, with only one question in mind - “How can I generate multiple streams of income?” From the way he spoke, he had gotten to that point in life, when what is reasonable to do is cry out for help. I tried as best I could to enumerate some basic steps for creating steady streams of income.
If you are wondering whether or not you need this, you probably aren’t ready, at least not yet. Being an employee often offers one the disadvantage of not thinking about this type of thing for a long time. With a sure salary coming at the end of every month, what’s the use of multiple streams? It will be good that you learn ahead though, particularly as we’ll all stop being employees one day. And if you have not developed extra sources, particularly passive ones for yourself, your later years might not be so rosy. When push comes to shove, your net value is the difference between your inputs and outputs. If we borrow from the bathtub theorem, the water the bathtub retains is a function of how many faucets and how you are plugging the drains.

Once upon a time, there was a young man who in search of a profitable business to do, decided to venture into exporting. This man was not so buoyant, so rather than wait for perfect conditions he decided to venture anyway in a small scale.
Every day, this young man physically packed a bag full of sand and rode with his bicycle across the border to Benin republic. Everyday that this young man meticulously rode past, the customs men would fulfill their normal protocol of searching his bag throughly, wondering when sand became so expensive across the border. After the man crossed over, the custom men will dedicate some time arguing for against his insanity. “How can a man, carry a bag of sand across the boarder everyday, is sand running out of circulation? After weeks of joking about this case, the curiosity of the customs men began to grow. “Could it be that there is something that he knows, that is unknowns to us?” Could it be that sand is gold in Benin? Or is there a new business we ought to educate ourselves about?
After many months, they gained the boldness to ask the young man what was really on their mind. They confronted him on this particular day, as he was riding past. “Hello young man”, they said, “we’ve been watching you with a mixture of bewilderment, wonder and amusement, please tell us, what exactly are you smuggling across the border, we promise not to punish you or go against you, as we have been unable to see it for so long!” (more…)

It’s one full year now, when we started an investment club under the code name Generis Financial Solutions. I remember the kinds of comments that visited the birth of the two arms of these clubs then. Some people complained that I was complaining about the hyips that existed then because I wanted to start my own. I got a lot of personal mails attacking my personality, I had a number of rough comments and outright vituperation, but I forged ahead then because I believed that it was possible to manage a financial club and get results for people. I wasn’t alone though, there was a team of people who believed as well, some helped in the process of managing the funds while the others put their money where there mouth was.
After a while, we decided not to admit fresh people into the club. We started getting lots of emails and comments from interested people. By the time the wonder banks wound down, a deluge of mails hit my personal account. Some people realized, that I might really not be as stupid as they imagined as some of the things I had said had come to be true in time. It was a lot of challenge saying no to people’s money, but I had to be firm, as my credibility and integrity is worth more to me than any amount in the world. After 1 year, today precisely, we called the members of the club for a breakfast meeting, and declared 100% return on investment for the fiscal year closing today. We didn’t only declare it, we wrote out checks to the members for the amounts due to them to liquidate their holdings. At least this shows that the money is not on paper only, but real. It also gives them the opportunity to take their money back, to take proper position in the reloaded version of the Investment Club. (more…)

In the 19th century, it wasn’t necessary for married women to work. The man was the bread winner, and whatever bread he won, was enough to cater for the family. It was an agrarian age, and the labour of the man was sufficient to cater for his household, the requirements for farming were also mostly masculine, it was alright to bring the goods home, and have the woman continue from there. After a while, the concept of industries began to emerge, in the early 20th century, man entered the industrial age, in this age, concepts like division of labour, segregation of work and systems came into limelight. The requirement for working was no longer brute strength, at the same time, it became increasingly difficult for the salary of the man alone to take care of his family. The women started working to support their husbands; unmarried ladies started working because they would invariably need it. The concept of housewife started diminishing, as the man required support to provide for the needs of his household.\r\n\r\nToday, we are in the digital or information age. In this age, information has taken on fresh power, the bombardment of advertising is inundating, options are almost limitless and services are beginning to be more in vogue than products. Population has increased, the world has shrunk and the playing field is leveled. The earth is round, but the world is flat. In progression from the past, the requirements for today are not just the man and woman working, but one job is grossly insufficient. Except you have more than one source of income today, the ship of your life is heading for an iceberg. If your job ties you down to absolutely nothing else from 8am to 5pm, it better be paying you like a suicide bomber, because that is who you are. The next thoughts you are about to read is tonic for you to engage your brain and source for multiple streams of income.

The Tipping Point
Early this month, after a meeting with my Pastor (Rev Sam Adeyemi), I decided to buy 20 copies of the book - “The Tipping Point”, and make them available to all my colleagues. The meeting with him had been a really good one, I had briefed him about the New Nigeria Club, our passion, our vision, our motivation and methodologies. He was excited about what we were doing, and remarked that he believed that what we were doing had the potentials to “catch fire”. He also commented that it wasn’t an idea anymore, as we had started. He went ahead to pray for me, the visionary and for the New Nigeria Club. While we talked however, he remarked that he remembers reading the book titled - The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, and that the book contained some interesting models for realizing our dream of a National Positive Epidemic. I told him I had read some of the book, and that some of our models were actually drawn from there. I however noted it in my mind, that I would not only read the book completely, I would encourage my colleagues to read it as well.
It’s only a few weeks since that meeting, and the book has gradually virtually taken over a good part of our vocabulary. We are consistently on the look out now, for what we can do, to tip every project that we are working on. One such concept was what we applied to our regular Sunday meetings, and all of a sudden from barely filling up a 250 sitter room, we are now desperately looking for a 1,500 sitter room. We tipped last week Sunday with filled to capacity room, for Financial Empowerment Seminar Series and next week Sunday, we are even taking bolder steps. This week Sunday we’ll be having part 2 of the Financial Empowerment Series, and we’ll be delving into details about how to become financially empowered with the vehicles of the Stock Market and Real Estate, and how to do it with little or zero capital. We’ve been using the life of Joseph as case study for the landmarks in the life of an achiever. We have moved from his place of birth in Padanaram, to the Pit, to Potiphar’s house to Prison. Now Joseph is about to make a transition from the Prison to the Palace.
The palace is synonymous to opportunity. Being in the Palace doesn’t make you the Pharaoh or Prime Minister, anymore than getting an opportunity makes you a millionaire. I discovered lately that it would be unfair to many, if I don’t post the fresh opportunities that exist for the grabs here on this site. A lot of things are coming up every now and then for NNC, and it’s only fair that I at least give the world an opportunity to know.
First we are kicking off the health deal - the work involved in the Launch did not make it easy to blend the two at that time. Then the land we bought in December just got priced up by 66.7%, some members of the club have made N200,000 clean by just becoming members and not marketing anything. Also we got an interesting opportunity from a development organization to do training worth N72,000 for members for free in March, 2008.
We are also giving members an opportunity to invite their friends for a marketing and re-orientation presentation on the NNC at 2pm on Sunday the 20th of January and for members to be available for a brainstorming session at 4pm on the same day.
