Who Will Cry When You Die?

The thought of our mortality is one of our greatest reservoirs of wisdom. When we ponder on the transient nature of life, we ask ourselves deep questions and our philosophies are formed. When the question of death is asked, our highest priorities surface. I like the thoughts of Stephen R. Covey, when he says begin with the end in mind. One can hardly understand his or her life’s priorities without extending the equation of life over the point where life ends. Those who regularly connect with their mortality live the most meaningful lives, while in contrast, those who think they would leave forever make a mess of life.

Who will cry when you die? Ask yourself this question and it might reveal to you the quality of life you are currently living. Ask why will they cry, and you’ll see the things you are living for. The days are inching close to when it would be 1yr that heaven gained my mother, the days seem fast to the observers, but the value of that time, and the many times her value was missed is priceless. My eyes have not offered it’s tears for public display, but my heart has bled over and over with tears of blood, thank God for his comfort. When life has meaning, it always leaves a clear vacuum in the lives of other people. This vacuum makes people cry, makes people hurt and makes many wish it was possible to reverse death. When you die, who will cry and why? Continue reading

Opportunities that will make you Enemies

I have been involved in a lot of opportunities in my life, I’ve always been entrepreneurial (mum’s blood), and people are usually puzzled when I talk about the things I have been involved with. I have sold bread and egg (when I was in secondary school), barbed hair, made greeting/love cards and bookmarks, co-owned and managed a dry-cleaning (wash, starch, iron and packaging) company. I have done transport business, bought and resold far produce and written certificates for a University. I have been involved in Mining, done network marketing ( and a few companies masquerading as such) and have even been involved in a few investment related businesses.

If there is anything that I have learnt, I have learnt that even though it’s good to pursue opportunities, there are opportunities that have the capacity to mess you up and destroy your integrity. These businesses are things one must do due diligence on, and get involved with clarity about what their future holds. I have held myself back from publicly sharing my thoughts on a number of companies, but please spare me today, as I share them with you from my perspective! I’m going to be like an economist in my analysis, offering you the facts and not necessarily taking sides. I confess that I am biased, I am heavily biased by experience, I am biased based on the people I have seen and the woes that they share. Please get my verdict here once and for all on TVI,  Travel Access Club, Holidays and Cash, High Street Market.Forever Living Products, Tianshi, VIPexpress, RVI, Questnet, 5linx, e.t.c. Windows of Opportunity

Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all – Helen Keller
In the classification of Robin Sharma (Bestselling author of the Monk who Sold his Ferrari) – Opportunities are “cubic centimeters of chance”. They are tiny windows that provide themselves, so small they are often missed, but so important they are the windows of hope that light up our world with hope and endless possibilities.

Opportunities are life’s gifts, framed in lenght by time, and in breadth by chance. Sometimes you get the chance but miss the time, sometimes you get the time, and miss the chance. It’s opportunity when your time and chance are smack dab! Those who Pass Over Opportunities Repeatedly are termed POOR. Those who maximize their little windows are labelled favoured, fortunate or even blessed. We all have these windows open for us per time. Most often they are in the direction of our fears, most often they come dressed up in overalls called work, sometimes they are in that relationship you never cultivated, that business you never got involved with, that place you never went. Opportunities are regularly knocking on your door, sometimes so slowly you attribute it to something else, sometimes so silently the noise of your fears and worries clutters it.

Here are a few thoughts to help you identify and maximize the opportunities around you. Please don’t bother reading if you won’t take action, it will be a waste of your time! Continue reading

Knowing Where to Tap

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FREE REPORT

Once upon a time, a big manufacturing company had a problem with their machine. Their machine was huge and monstrous and it was quite a challenge to pin down exactly what the problem was. The machine simply stopped working, their internal engineers tried tirelessly, but hours rolled into days, and days headed for weeks. They decided to hire the services of a city renown expert engineer.

The engineer came to the site as soon as he was briefed. Like all engineers, the first thing to do for him was to diagnose before prescribing solutions. He had a word with the heads of operation of the company and they commissioned him to solve the problem. He strolled into the engine room, it was a really big room with lots of pipes, engines and cylinders. It was a big operation. The expert engineer strolled in, observing carefully as he walked along. A few engineers from the company closely behind him, trying to see for themselves where the problem was. The expert engineer, oozing the wisdom that comes from plenty of white hair strolled carefully around the entire room, touching, pausing, feeling and thinking. After walking around for about 30 mins. The engineer requested for a hammer from his tool box. He took out the hammer, and hit a particular spot on one of the cylindrical pipes. He asked them to switch on the engine, they did, she struck the place again, and as if by one stroke of magic, the engine’s responded, and began to work again. He asked them to switch off the engine, then turn it on again. The machine responded as if there had been no problem whatsoever, it worked smoothly.

All the engineers were surprised, but excited. Alas the machine was up again. News went fast to the operations manager and the CEO, the expert engineer was indeed an expert, as he had solved a very complex problem that had bedeviled the whole company and help them ransom for too long. Their excitement however faded when the expert engineer sent them his bill. He was demanding for a small sum of $10,000. The engineers could not believe their eyes, the operations manager was exasperated. He could not reconcile the bill, with the story he had heard of how the problem was solved. Not to appear rude by denying the expert of his charges, the operations manager requested that the expert engineer break down his bill, so that the company could understand what they were paying for. Naira Slide

In the wake of this year, I described the things that we’ll find happening in the economic terrain in 2009. I described a story where the first sign in war led famine, was things becoming expensive. Well, we are not so far gone in the year and it’s happening already. I’m not merely writing a report of the state the nation, I’m writing to give you an idea of my analysis of what is happening, and to give you some guidance into what you can do to make the most of this time. I will offer guidance, no absolutes. Let’s say I’m learning not to put myself in the position where people hand me responsibility for their choices.

First, when you hear anything is happening, the first thing you ought to do is understand why. If it get’s resolved without your understanding why, if it happens again, you are in a fix. Let’s say for example you are trying to run a particular software, the software stops on a particular page and refuses to go forward. The average person begins to pound on different keys and “Wala!” the computer begins to work again. If it happens again, he’ll possibly waste a lot of time again, banging the keys without knowing which of the key combinations unlocked the page. He might even end up destroying the computer. We will never be able to accurately and efficiently solve our problems if we don’t take time to understand the root causes. So, why is the Naira sliding, where will the slide stop, how does it affect you and I? What can we do? Continue reading

Staying Up in a Down World

Job 22:29  When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

It’s not affecting individuals only, gigantic corporations have liquidated, even countries have declared bankrupcy. Men are cast down!

In the midst of these stormy dissasters that have hit “men” – humanity, nations, corporations, individuals, what is the recommended strategy for staying up? What activities must we participate in at these times, to make our fates different from that which bedevils the world?

The strategy is simple, and very straight forward. In that one sentence above, I’m going to share with you a few practical strategies for rising above these times, but first let me share a story I learnt 13yrs ago with you. Continue reading
