4 Useful Tools to Achieve More

Everyday, I’m learning, in fact I’m currently on a 30 day course! One of the demands of this course is that whatever it is I’m learning, I take the diligence to also give back and teach others. Remember you have not truly learnt a thing until you have taught someone else. Education analysts say that what you teach others get’s retained about 90% more.

Despite the fact that there is so much activity going on these days, I am deliberately learning, and pushing myself. None of us has an excuse. The day we stop learning is the day we start dying.

Please pay attention to the four tools below, they may wear new names (that’s courtesy of Robin Sharma who’s training I’m in), but they are timeless tools that if you use can really help you to achieve more. Watch out though, whatever you do not put time action steps to execute within the next 24hrs is lost. All you read of these tools will be useless to you tomorrow, if you don’t determine to act on them immediately and if you don’t determine to teach someone else and hold yourself accountable.

Tool 1: Ideation
Everything begins with a thought. Have a dream book, it’s like a vision board in a book. Create things that have to do with all the areas of wealth (lifestyle, health). Start creating pictures and ideas of the life you want to live. Images impress the subconscious mind and gives you more power and clarity.

Question: The Dream book, by when will you have done this?

Tool 2: Visualization
Visualization is very powerful. Form a holy hour, close your eyes and see the pictures of your ideal images in the various aspects of life. Create a mental video of the life of your dreams, and take time out to watch it daily. Don’t watch it flatly, watch it with emotions.

Question: The holy hour, when will you start this?

Tool 3: Verbalization
Words are higher levels of thought. Whatever you say to yourself consistently your subconscious begins to believe. Whatever your subconscious believes will soon become your reality. Develop a leadership vocabulary, develop the vocabulary of the world class.

Sample Daily Declarations

Everyday and in every way I’m getting better and better and stronger and stronger. (or healthier and healthier or richer and richer or better and better as a leader, or happier and happier, whatever you want to work on).

I’m joyfully creating a world class business and joyfully creating a world class life.

Clean up your language, don’t finish yourself with careless words. Never say my business is going down, except you really want it to go down! Use your mind and emotions to feel your words. You need to connect your emotions, they are powerful, emotions have no limits, the mind is the limiter. Your emotions are liberators! Be emotionally invested in your projects. Greatness comes from passion and beneath the passion is emotions.

Repeating declarations about 100 times daily is powerful!

Question: When will you start holding yourself accountable to 100 declarations per day?

Tool 4: Materialization
Act on your big ideas. Small daily improvements over time lead to sterling results. Do 5 little things each day. Start today. DIN – Do it Now! Be an action person. The difference between you and your next level, is your commitment to action!

Question: Your daily 5 things to do to develop your business, when will you write them, and when will you start acting on them?

Success Factors 2

I began a series a few days ago on success factors. I promised that I would complete the success factors, and as such, I have decided to make good that promise today. Success factors are the basic attributes, attitudes, skills or qualities that form the basis for success in any successful person. These are factors that anybody from any level of achievement can practice and their success will be guaranteed. If our habits are right, our results cannot be wrong for long. If you know the factors and practice them relentlessly, you are success bound.

In the industry that I’m passionate about – the Network Marketing industry, the factors required cut across what you’ll need to succeed in almost any sphere. It is indeed a training school for all round success in all spheres of life. If you can put this to practice and succeed here in this industry, I have no doubt that you’ll succeed in family, business or any of the spheres of influence. Continue reading

My Testimony – FGBMF

The narrative below was produced by Ewulotan Ayodeji Peter a participant in the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship of 17th March, 2010, the Aqua Chapter. I had the privilege of sharing my testimony and perspectives with them. I believe some people were blessed, here is hoping that this narrative would be valuable to you as well.
He is a distinguished engineering graduate from OAU who opted to pursue his passion (human development) rather than the course he studied. He was fortunate to have given his life to Christ very early in life, a decision that turned him to a young billionaire (He was a Youth Corper 10years ago). His major turning point in life started when he went for a retreat out of passion for God…….before the commencement of the meeting he prayed that God should distinguish him in life (he wanted to be different, ….God set me apart)
He was surprised at God’s response …….God told him it is not my job to make you different ….that he would not need Him (God) to be different…. that the decision and effort must come from him (Deolu) to be a different person i.e. you have to first draw near to God for God to draw near to you …..like the saying ‘Heaven only helps those who help themselves’. ‘When I see you make a move then I God will back you up. The Law of Diminishing Intent

I’ve been working on this article for about 5 days now, I’m just coming back from a 4 days exciting adventure in Ilorin, where I saw the future of business in Nigeria. I saw young guys and lady’s making great things happen, utilizing their time well and getting themselves positioned for the future. The more I speak with them, the more these thoughts burn in my mind. It’s the law of Diminishing Intent, not my original idea, but it’s motivating to me, so I have decided to put my thoughts on it down for you, and for the future.
“The Longer you wait to do something you know you should do now, the greater the chances you will never actually do it!” – Culled from The Success Formula by Bob Burg.
Patience is a virtue, it in fact is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Patience however does not mean slackness. Patience is rather a manifestation of faith that allows you to maintain decorum as you position for the things that are yours while they do not appear to be so. I’m stating this clearly ahead so that you don’t confuse what I’m writing about today with a motivation to be impatient, you need to have the right context about patience. What you have when you wait without instruction or without faith in a possibility is not patience it’s slackness! Continue reading

A Book Can Change your Story

I have learnt a lot in the last almost 4yrs as an entrepreneur, I thought I was knowledgeable, and maybe I was, but the words, “see thou a man that is wise in his own eyes, there is more hope for a fool than him” – make more sense to me by the day. When you begin to know, you realize that the more you know, the more there is to know.  Real knowledge is a by product of the experience of others. The gap between hypothesis and theory is bridged by experience – repeated experiments. He who would be knowledgeable must be willing to either learn from a lab mice, or be one. I daresay, better is the grace of  humility to learn from the lab rat, than the grace of courage to be one yourself.  The complete life however, must balance these means.
About 3yrs ago, I was quite broke – broke as N40,000 could be what 9 of us shared in a month. I was doing everything I knew to do to keep afloat.  I had a team of guys working with me then as well as volunteers, and it was getting difficult to manage things and keep everybody together. We had sent out lots of proposals, were engaged in different small projects, but not so many results. Somewhere along the line, I stumbled on this book, that we are reading till this year ends. I decided not to read it alone, but to do a group effort with all my colleagues. It was just 3 days ago, that it dawned on me fully that it was less than 3 months from when we started the group reading, that a series of opportunities began to flood us all.  We have never attributed the deluge to the book we had read that had tuned us to thinking and acting in a certain way. I thought it was serendipity, but I guess it was actually a science. The ride to wealth and fame was stalled only when we left the creative mind frame and became competitive. I have resumed reading this book again, this time not with 9 people, but with 175 people so far on my database who sent me an email, and I forwarded the book to them. In case you are thinking of joining us, here are some things we have learnt in the last 4 days.

Run With Me for 30 Days

Today is the last day of this month, by tomorrow, the last month of the year will start, and before we all know it, the year would end. This year has been the best year of my life so far, and somehow I’m persuaded beyond any doubt that the last days of the year are going to be crowned with goodness. I know that in the last month of this year, many expecations are still going to be met, many people’s prayers will still be answered, many unfinished goals will be achieved and dreams will still come through and true! I’m about to embark on a 30 days journey of success, and I want you to come with me.

When I say this year has been good, it’s on all counts. Just this morning for example, I had the privilege of giving out a gift of an all expense paid vacation to two people, and not the first time this year. This year, I have gotten to meet and built great relationships with fantastic people, people I had never met have become my friends and partners. This year  I have also enjoyed financial progress, enjoyed freedom, enjoyed a number of vacations, watched my kids, family and friends make progress. This year I have heard a lot of thank yous, a lot of God bless yous and so much gratitude has filtered into my life.  This year, my mum stepped up to glory, and even though not here, I feel peace when I draw inspiration from her life. Very importantly too, this year, I have experienced God’s grace, guidance, protection, leading and wisdom in ways too amazing and numerous to describe.  As this year wraps up however, I have a mandate to help a few more people achieve their goals and dreams, meet their future partners, attract wealth, be a blessing to someone else, whatever it is that’s going to crown your year with goodness. All you need to do is simple and brief. Continue reading

The Elevator to Success!

I came across a quote from a friend today, and it spurred me on to write.  For all those out there who are looking for an “elevator” to success, I believe that this quote and write-up is a must read for you. We are in a sharp sharp generation, a microwave, two minutes noodles generation. We want what we want, and we want it yesterday.

Our young people don’t want to invest for the long term, they want short term, and high returns. Nobody is willing to test the powers of compound interest, nobody is willing to wait for 10yrs and see what a million can become after so long. They all want it in 1 month, in 3 months or worst case scenario in 6 months. We are too in a hurry, too hasty, too much in a rush! When we approach the building of life that has success on it’s topmost floor, we go to the elevator and punch the up button, we enter and hit the 10th floor. All we need to do is stand still, and wait for the elevator to deliver us to sure success. Isn’t this the way we want it? Smooth easy effortless ride to our dreams? Wake up, and smell the coffee. Secrets to Success – 2

“Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it, proceed the issues that govern life” – Proverbs 4:23

“In the end, we will remember, not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends” – Marthin Luther King Jr.

iceberg

It might shock you to know, but research has revealed that in any area of professional development, focusing on the skill itself accounts for less than 30% of what will make you grow or develop. In fact, a school of thought I have come to find interesting and fascinating says that the combination of learned skill, knowledge and other intellectual factors account for just 15% of the actual skill’s development, the other 85% are accounted for by things you and I an unconscious of. Let’s call them unconscious factors.

To take a more practical approach, let’s look at a skill like presentation skills, or writing skills. If you wanted to develop these skills today, you would focus on reading about these skills, that would be called gaining knowledge, you would talk about learning by doing, practicing, forming habits, that would be called learned skill. You would also look at some other intellectual factors like learning by teaching others, going for a course, passing an exam e.t.c. Right? All that will account for only 15% of what you need to do to develop that skill. If that is all you have ever done today, you can only imagine the potentials you have to further develop yourself. 85% of what is responsible for your development are things within your subconscious mind. The factors mostly responsible for your success, are internal. You’ll need to align them properly to succeed. Continue reading
