How to Reap!

It’s almost 2am now, I’m here reminiscing on the events of the last 5 days. It all started on Monday morning at the Mini International Conference of Rhema Chapel International in Ilorin. I had been given an opportunity to speak in 4 sessions by one of the Men of God I love and respect the most – Rev George Adegboye. In case you don’t know Rev. George Adegboye, let me give you a short, yet apt description – He is the only man alive referred to as the Living Bible and Mobile Concordance. I certainly believe that his grace is a special one, or how do you explain that a man can speak for 1hr and continue cross-referencing verses of the scripture with absolute accuracy without mixing it or mincing words. How do you explain when a man reels out from memory what a particular word and references all the other places where the same word can be found all over the bible. Apart from all these, he is also the pastor of my pastor. He’s a man I’ve watched and loved from a distance, so you can imagine how delighted I was, when I heard his invitation to come and speak in his church’s international conference. I was excited.

The past 5 days have been fulfilling, exciting and rewarding for me. I have been a blessing, I have learnt, I have been blessed and I have come to meet a lot more people. Rather than 4 sessions, I was eventually given 5 sessions, and I enjoyed every one of those opportunities. The theme of the conference was, activating the power of God in your life. My focus was activating that power for financial empowerment. God is the one that gives us the power to get wealth,  God wills that we prosper,  He desires that we can achieve all that we want to achieve, He’s the author of our godly desires. All that power to create lies within us and what we need to know is how to activate it. Continue reading

Aches of Joy

As I write this article, my leg aches, my hands have wounds and my head hurts. I sustained some injuries 3 days ago, and I long to always look back at the scars. Yes you read that right, I long to always look back at the origin of those scars, the events surrounding it are memorable.

Thursday last week, I travelled back to Ilorin, precisely Federal Government College Ilorin my Alma Mata.  I went back after 14yrs, invited as the guest speaker in the school’s 35th Founder’s day Celebration. When I entered the school gate, I felt a bit shocked, the school had not improved since I left it 14yrs ago but had actually deteriorated. I went round the school, recounting the story of my childhood to my colleagues that went with me, also preparing to address the crowd of 800+ students and their teachers. My objective was to ensure that by the time I left Ilorin the students’ passion for academic excellence would have improved visibly.  This objective was well achieved by the time we left Ilorin, and even though I have these aches, I am glad I made myself available. No Carry Over!!

At this time of the year, many religious places of worship start fashioning out their themes for the new and coming year. You begin to hear phrases like this – “No Carry Over!” This is a familiar phrase with university students. Carry over means you failed a course in the previous semester and now you have to carry it over into another year. “No Carry Over”, used in the contest of approaching a new year then means ensuring that all troublesome issues, all scary events and all bad occurrences in your life this year, ought to be dealt with so that you do not have to carry any of them over. While I agree that that this concept is worth pursuing, what I find strange is how different people seek to pursue it, but that again is the topic of another day.

What I want to write about today is something I’m being inspired by God to do. It’s a tough exercise for me, and I’m tempted only to write this and never post it. In fact, I’m writing this on a notepad now. so if this gets to be made public, it’s because I was able to withstand the temptation not to just sit on it, and rationalize my way out of it. Charity Event Update – Urgent

Our First Charity outing as a club is this weekend. 3pm Saturday, 15th December, 2007

Based on the votes of the members, we have decided to add value to 4 Cases this week. Two of these cases are critical public health cases that we can donate money to without any major paraphernalia. Some of our delegates will go ahead and do this ahead of us.

The rest of us will be going to two places on Saturday. Remand Home Boys Oregun and Modupe Cole, Okota.  We’ll be giving them some of the items they have requested for as needs, spend some time with them and help them refurbish some of their dilapidated structures. In Modupe Cole we’ll be helping them to build a shed, as some of the workshop exercises they have are being done in the sun. In the Remand Home, we will confirm with them today whether it is renovation of one of their hostels that is urgent or helping them with an internet ready computer room.

We will be having coverage for the event from 12 Newspaper houses and 3 Television houses. The News Agency of Nigeria that supplies news for international stations will also be present. Like we confirmed to our members, we want to add visible value. Continue reading

Dubai 001 – Live and Let Live

“A true measure of your worth includes all the benefits others have gained from your successes” Cullen Hightower salesman and writer

I met a couple on Sunday and by Tuesday I had changed my vacation plans. They were representatives of a property company in Dubai, and the information they gave me, was just too good to be true. In case your appetite is getting wet already, save it for my return, I’ll be posting many big and small deals from this my short visit. Our extensive conversation about Dubai made me certain that there are a lot of things Nigeria could learn from this country. I knew coming here would birth many articles too, I’ll just take it one day at a time.

There are lots of lessons to learn from Dubai, both for us as individuals and for us as a nation Nigeria. It is not only amazing that we were virtually in the same state, if not better, just less than 30yrs ago, before we both discovered oil. Today, any comparism would be mockery. Continue reading

30

Yeah, the popular film is 300, but this about to be popular post is 30…

I’m clocking 30 on the 4th of August, 2007 that’s Saturday, and I’m celebrating it on the same day between 4-6pm at the Little saints Orphanage at Palmgrove like I did last year. I feel a bit funny talking about my age like most people, but for me, that age is a benchmark age for me. Three of the bible characters that inspire me the most, entered into the full realm of their missions at 30.

Jesus started his full time ministry at 30
David became King in Isreal at 30
Joseph became prime minister in Egypt at 30

Early this year, during my time of meditation, God impressed it on my heart, that I was about the age of his Son, when he was on earth, and that I should stop limiting myself.

John the baptist was thirtish when the media of his time classified him as the voice.

Martin Luther King Jr was thirtish when he registered the words -”I have a dream” on the sands of time. Continue reading

Extreme Makeover – Season1 Results

It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it. -Albert Einstein

We are a summary of our privileges! We are where we are, who we are, because we got some things that we did not really deserve. Or at least that’s how I see it. Why did you come first so easily in primary school? Why did you see an opportunity where someone else did not? Why are you who you are? Who I am is a privilege, I have the whole of my life to extend privileges to others. I believe that it is the duty of those that have, to provide for those, who by factors beyond their choices are conditioned to live their present lives. This is not only a good thing, it’s also a sure way to wealth. The law of the universe ensures that the givers never lack.

In the Summary of the Extreme Makeover Stories. 3 stories were ranked the stories to support. Story 2 (Mayor), Story 1 (Oge) and Story 5 (Groundnut Seller). We will conduct a research  on them and informally interview each of them and finalize.

Interestingly enough, even though people have not been asked to start making contributions towards this, people have started already. I’ll suggest that we give bountifully and generously. It’s very ok for us to have enough to meet every of these needs in the course of one full year. In fact if we are able to raise millions, we can invest with a credible fund manager that will generate at least 10% monthly (and I mean outsource it, not ours).

To make payments, just click on the Interswitch link on your right, and choose the option of Extreme Makeover. I’ll personally ensure that all interested people are kept in the loop with how much we were able to raise and how we will utilize. I’ll also like stories to start rolling in as regards the Angel Network – This is to take care of people who without our intervention will die soon. Let’s champion this causes together.

My attempt to write this has been aborted twice already, and each time I muscled up to write, there has been a fresh jolt of inspiration. I read an article written by Oprah yesterday, and today a speech given by Bill Gates. I’m convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that this is the right way to go. I was touched by Oprah Winfrey’s $10m + investment in a leadership academy in South Africa for the Girls, she saw it as an investment and gave more than money to it. When this morning I went through Bill Gates speech at Harvard 3 days ago. Continue reading
