Development is one of the segments of my yearly goals. I usually try to have something that covers every part of my being- spirit, soul and body. In case you don’t I suggest you plan to have that this year. Make sure that your goals touch every area of your life and focus on specific areas, I’ll recommend that ordinarily spiritual goals ought to be priority. When we seek first God’s kingdom, all other things are added. Today for example I am just completing my 365 days fast, that’s a spiritual goal that I set and the purpose was to keep me in tune with God’s direction for my life and keep me involved and active. I might not be able to justify the reasons to you, but the fruits of a consecrated life are evident – now and in time.
Today however my primary focus will not be on your spiritual goals. By all means set them. Have a commitment to fellowship with God, to have daily devotion, to be kinder, more impactful to others, to add more value, to be a blessing. These are by far the most important things in my life. The ultimate test of faith is not “what does my faith do for me?”, but what does it make me do for others?” Your spirual goals set the pace, but it’s your developmental goals, which are partly spiritual but largely soulish are the things that get you equipped to deliver your spiritual goals more effectively and efficiently. As you advance into the year ahead, here are a few things you must strive to achieve, and do not forget!

In case you have not noticed, I love and fear God, I’m also a devoted follower of the principles and person of Jesus Christ! I’m saying this just to set the records straight. Some of you will like me more, some less, and some will not care more or less. I’m saying this so you understand my tilt, and know that I’m nothing but a steward of everything in my care.
Haven understood that first paragraph, another thing I’ll like you to know about me, is that I do not fear death. Death is scary, don’t get me wrong, but I confronted the thought of it so much that I’m not scared by the shadow of death. As a matter of fact, I believe that one of the most limiting things to the human potential is a fear of death. When you conquer the fear of death, you live life to the fullest. One of my most enjoyed methods of confronting death, is to sit down, and think up what I want to be my epitaph. It’s called living today with the end in mind. Stephen Covey wrote some great thoughts about this in 7 habits of highly effective people. I’ve done this a lot, and one that has been most consistent for about a year in my mind is this one… Still a Blessing. Continue Reading »

We all have these moments! Don’t feel like you are alone in the world for feeling tired, frustrated or fed up, there are those moments! But those moments don’t just come, they come for a reason. Everything that happens is either cause or effect, and believe me getting tired and fed up is not a cause, it’s an effect.
In case you are wondering, “what did I do, to cause this?” or “Why me?” don’t worry for long, there is a way in, and there is a way out. Weak moments will happen, but you can stay strong in the midst of them. Here are a few tips on how not to get there, and how to get out. Continue Reading »

Today is the 25th of December! It’s chrismas day! I remember what today stood for growing up as a child. It was a high point in the year worth looking forward to. Not only would we get new clothes and eat anything at home, the whole neighbourhood became our restaurant, and the best part was that the food was free. I can clearly remember discussing back then with my playmates about how many bottles of fanta or coke we had taken that day alone. We were welcome in as many as the 300 homes in our neighbourhood, and it was a taboo to answer “thank you”, when you were offered food. If you don’t want to eat there, don’t go there. As you can bet however, things are a lot different with me now
. December 25 is still a day of celebration of the birth and purpose of Jesus Christ, that hasn’t changed. What has changed is, rather than moving from pillar to post, I now spend my Chrismas days introspectively, trying to draw out clear paths and plans for the coming year. If you haven’t, it’s a good time as well, to ask yourself, what is my plan for the coming year. Remember, what doesn’t get measured, rarely gets done! Continue Reading »

Today, I had a lenghty discussion with a lady. We had talked a number of times. I had been on the recieving end of her thoughts, ideas and passions, even though we had never met. I saw her for the first time today, no!, not in the flesh, on yahoo
. Strange world, you can talk to someone, see the person, share ideas, laugh together, plan ahead, without haven met. Back in the days, if you sat and spoke about it, the world would fear that you were going mad. Today, it’s only natural.
As I paid close attention to the details of her life, quizing her on to get something motivating and inspiring for you to read (Watch out for her Interview), little did I know that the interview was more than just for you, but even me as well. Continue Reading »

There is this interesting phenomenon I learnt very early in life. It had to do with the cultivation of grapes. The grape farmer uses a principle that we should all apply in our lives. When the grape is planted and begins to fruit, it brings out a large cluster of grapes. The cluster of grapes that spring out at times could be over 30. They all look beautiful and green. To a businessman, it’s very easy to start calculating the profit from these clusters, but not for a farmer who wants to develop choice grapes suitable for high value wines. For this grape farmer who intends to win a blue ribbon for his grape quality, 30 clusters on a tree will not serve his purpose.
From time to time he comes to this grape vine and cuts off some of the clusters, this is called pruning. Some are destroyed, but this allows the juices flowing from the roots to concentrate on fewer outlets. He keeps doing this from time to time until only 2 of those clusters remain on the tree. This two look beautiful and develop into big juicy looking grapes. They become a joy to behold by passersby; they begin to attract the attention of visitors and friends. The farmer gets more alert to wade away pests and thieves. Shortly to ripening however, the farmer goes ahead and still cuts away one of the grapes!
A life that will be prized, special, outstanding, attractive and blue ribboned will be focused. Pruning is prerequisite to growth. What is weak must be cut off, and what is strong must be given attention. This is the law of life for anyone who desires to stand for much and live a life beyond the ordinary. I believe that’s you.

Today (after midnight) is one of those days when I have a little time before I sleep to actually think (almost worry) about where the ship of my life is being steered. Don’t be fooled, i’m also human. I get to wonder at times if the future will be as good as I desire it to be, but the difference with me, is that I catch myself quickly and conciously decide to think of the things that I know I should rather be thinking of. The things that are true, lovely, pure, just, praise worthy e.t.c.
I remembered a story in the Bible this morning. Jesus needed to spend some time alone, and asked his disciples to go ahead in the ship. He stayed behind to pray, and when he was through decided to go join the disciples. Seeing they had gone far into the sea, he decides to take a stroll on the sea waves (wow…I wish I could do that). The disciples were having a really rough time, and to compound things, they saw a ghost bouncing on the waves of the sea. They were terrified! Jesus decided to calm their nerves, he announced to them, “Take courage,It is I, don’t be afraid”. Wow, they saw the master himself, riding on the waves of the sea. I’m certain it’s a site worth going back to the past to see, but that’s not quite the cornerpiece of our analogy tonight. Peter did something really strange in this story, he beckons on Jesus to give him permission to come over to meet him. Continue Reading »
