Do You Have a Heart for It?

Many of us desire greatness, we want our names immortalized, we want to live unforgettable lives. We don’t want to live our lives merely on the lower rungs of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. We want to live actualized lives, lives that have impact and that have the testimony of positively affecting others. We want to enjoy an abundance of God’s favor, to manifest uncommon wisdom, we to be nationally relevant and global in our influence. We desire much!

The interesting thing as well, is that gifts, favor, wisdom, talents,  finance, relationships are things that God can give. Even men with influence and affluence can give gifts, you can leverage on their favor, tap into their wisdom, gain access into their finance, utilize their resources and harness their relationships. There is however one factor that has to be
yours and yours alone – your heart! The question on my mind for you today, is do you have a heart for the greatness that you desire? The only stumbling block, the only deterrent, the only hinderance between you and the life of your dreams is not what God can give you, it’s what you can make prepared yourself. Continue reading

If Only You Knew!

I thought I knew what I’m about to share. I had read about it, seemed to understand it, but somehow, what I practiced was different from it. 2 days ago however, I made a call to my mentor on the brink of making a decision, he challenged me, and all of a sudden it dawned on me that I did not understand this principle. Please pay attention, read slowly, re-read if you must, but make sure you don’t enter into 2011 without this timeless principle. Don’t use it alone, share it with your friends. Greatness beacons, and it’s available for all those who will plug in into this way of life.

“Sing, O barren,
You who have not borne!
Break forth into singing, and cry aloud,
You who have not labored with child!
For more are the children of the desolate
Than the children of the married woman,” says the LORD.

“Enlarge the place of your tent,
And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings;
Do not spare;
Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes.
For you shall expand to the right and to the left,
And your descendants will inherit the nations,
And make the desolate cities inhabited.” – Isaiah 54:1-3 Continue reading

Success Factors 2

I began a series a few days ago on success factors. I promised that I would complete the success factors, and as such, I have decided to make good that promise today. Success factors are the basic attributes, attitudes, skills or qualities that form the basis for success in any successful person. These are factors that anybody from any level of achievement can practice and their success will be guaranteed. If our habits are right, our results cannot be wrong for long. If you know the factors and practice them relentlessly, you are success bound.

In the industry that I’m passionate about – the Network Marketing industry, the factors required cut across what you’ll need to succeed in almost any sphere. It is indeed a training school for all round success in all spheres of life. If you can put this to practice and succeed here in this industry, I have no doubt that you’ll succeed in family, business or any of the spheres of influence. Continue reading

Who is Your Leader?

Last week Saturday, I had the rare privilege of an opportunity to speak at a Methodist Youth Convention in Oron, near Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The audience were young people from all over the nation, they numbered about a few thousands. It was talk-show styled. I was the only respondent on the talk-show, and I was being interviewed by a gentleman. The questions rolled after each other in quick succession, the questions seemed to have one goal in mind – to reveal the factors, the experiences and the environment responsible for bringing me to where I am today. My heart was moved in a heart felt prayer for these people, that they would start well, and finish strong. The same way today, my heart goes to every reader of this post. You will not be of them that run and do not win the prize, you will run and you will be victorious. Your purpose and dreams will not be cut shot. You will have a great story to tell, and your life and story will inspire your generation and generations unborn. You will live and not merely survive. You will impact your generation and not be distracted by the lure of a cyclic purposeless existence. Continue reading

Wired as an Employee

She wakes up very early in the morning, gets ready in a hurry, and leaves to work in a giffy. She’s been doing it like this for 4yrs, so she doesn’t really see it as a big deal anymore. She is fine and doing well, for as long as no one asks fundamental mind boggling questions. She’s become a master at her routines; she’s even grown to add on more responsibilities. The pay is not bad, gets her going, and gives her a little extra to create a few options for herself. She’s giving her family better than she got, life is good.

Once in a while however, her boat is rocked. She goes to church or a special meeting, and the speaker preaches a storm about dreams, about visions, about passion, about God, about a purposeful life, about living a fulfilled life and about eternity. Those same words that once created the picture of a beautiful peaceful world few years ago, now create internal anarchy within her system. The picture it represents today is abstract. Her mind is drawn to ponder, and the thought of how far away she has wondered away from her dreams and true desires is mind boggling. She hears the phrases all too common in those meetings – “What will you do if failure was not an option?”, What is your plan B? e.t.c. Inside her heart she knows the answer is different from her current vocation. She shrugs it, what can one do, isn’t it the first thing to simply survive? She struggles with those thoughts over the weekend, but when Monday comes, she resumes her routine. Unconsciously, she has been wired to see life as an employee, and change is costly! My Testimony – FGBMF

The narrative below was produced by Ewulotan Ayodeji Peter a participant in the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship of 17th March, 2010, the Aqua Chapter. I had the privilege of sharing my testimony and perspectives with them. I believe some people were blessed, here is hoping that this narrative would be valuable to you as well.
He is a distinguished engineering graduate from OAU who opted to pursue his passion (human development) rather than the course he studied. He was fortunate to have given his life to Christ very early in life, a decision that turned him to a young billionaire (He was a Youth Corper 10years ago). His major turning point in life started when he went for a retreat out of passion for God…….before the commencement of the meeting he prayed that God should distinguish him in life (he wanted to be different, ….God set me apart)
He was surprised at God’s response …….God told him it is not my job to make you different ….that he would not need Him (God) to be different…. that the decision and effort must come from him (Deolu) to be a different person i.e. you have to first draw near to God for God to draw near to you …..like the saying ‘Heaven only helps those who help themselves’. ‘When I see you make a move then I God will back you up. Failing Successfully!

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career, I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over in my life. And that’s why I succeed!” – Michael Jordan

One of the sharpest contrasts of paradigms between the super successful and the near do wells or outright failures is their perspective about failing. The contrast is so alarming, yet many don’t know. In my little sojourn and study, I have discovered quite amazingly that the rich and the poor, the great and the average, the skilled and he amateur,  have different philosophies about failing. If your philosophy can change, then you have indeed begun your journey into the school of success. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. You are not more than your way of thinking. Read these words, and let them transform your thinking, changing the way you see failing and rejection has the capacity to transform your life in 3 months.

Failing is one of the best things that can happen to a human being! Rejection is be most powerful motivation tool on earth! Getting a “No!” from your prospects or friends is the best self development training in the world! Failing is golden! The act of falling short, or missing expectations, of not meeting up with the desired results or getting woeful results is precious. You need to motivate yourself to fail, get yourself the opportunity of being rejected, go into places you’ll hear no’s more often, for success is elusive to those who have no history of failing! Failure must never be a place that defines you, but you must be conversant with failing. Like Thomas Watson one time MD of IBM said, “I have discovered, that in order to double my success rate, I simply double my failure rate!”.  You are not ready to succeed, until you are prepared to fail :) Continue reading
