Our quest in Generis Universal Tactical Solutions (GUTS for Short, or Just Generis Solutions) is to partner with people for success. We are interested in the success of our clients, both individual and corporate.
One of the comments that really hit me from one of the sessions we just concluded with one of clients was this statement – “you need to make more noise about Generis, you people are so good, but not enough people know”. That was a good statement, on it’s own it’s a combination of positive and constructive feedback. It has got me thinking, how can we get our name out while at the same time achieving our mission of helping people succeed. What became obvious is that it would be a good thing to reward people for referring us to a client or individual that eventually use our services.
We’ll be doing a demo for this in October with our two major October Trainings. Anyone who refers any participant to any of these two trainings will get a 10% cut of the total training costs. We’ll see how this goes, and develop a system around it to ensure that people can make a living just referring people to our programs – our contribution to helping people succeed. Continue Reading »

In Human Resources Management, the topic above is very familiar. We need to understand how we intend to reward and recognize our people. Different people are motivated by different things, hence people developing reward systems need to be aware of what people consider as rewarding.
In the theory of motivation, there is also what is called Herzberg’s hygiene factors – Some things might not be enough to make you leave a company, but they are enough to make you not think of leaving. What seems rather amazing however, is that the things that are hygiene factors are sometimes thought about by many as motivational factors. Herzberg was able to identify some of the elements classified as hygiene to include: company cars, salary, relationship with boss or subordinates, status and security. Does this shock you? He then identified the real motivators as achievement, recognition, work itself, personal growth, responsibility and advancement.
This month, also being the birthday of this site, I am in a great mood. Hence aside of the competition we currently have on, that will help people to win some fantastic prices, I am hereby announcing an experiment to reward and recognize the most courageous risk takers on this site. This experiment is open to only 10 participants and it’s on a first come first serve basis. You are about to be pleasantly surprised! Continue Reading »

The last HR Training course was attended by 18 participants and was really very interesting and exciting. The participants learnt a lot, formed a healthy network and have become the first set of alumni of many more HR MBAs (Methods Becoming Actions) to come. The participants have also not ceased to send us mails about how much of a difference it has made in their approach to HR. In fact, one participant had become so much more valuable to her company that she had a salary review just a week after the training. If you find this shocking, that makes two of us

As you probably know by now, I’m an HR specialist. I have spent considerable time developing HR capabilities in myself, and in others. During my Human Resources Management Career, I have had the opportunity to be responsible for on-boarding new employees into different companies. These induction sessions are usually 2 days events where new hires (at whatever level) are intimated with the mission, vision, culture and values of the organization. These meetings are so much fun, people remember them much long after.
I remember traveling by air one day, many months after I had left my last employment. One of the Cabin Crew members walked up to me, and told me that the words I spoke during their induction still provided guidance and instruction even though I was long gone. I flashed back, and remembered, one of the topics I enjoyed facilitating the most in these inductions, was and still is core values. Continue Reading »

If you have noticed, I have not been so consistent to write over the weekends lately. The reason was because of the HR MBA 1(Methods Becoming Action) which had taken my last two weekends. It’s over now, and it feels like the beginning of something great. I don’t know how you feel when you know that you are doing something that has a connection with becoming critical history. I feel that way.
The objective of the program was to build HR professionals, we had facilitators from different organizations. HR Directors, HR Managers, top notch HR consultants and of course moi. The program was successful. The 19 participants learnt a lot, had fun and became HR MBA certified. Continue Reading »
