Win a C3 in Nokia Competition

Published by Adeolu Akinyemi under Advertorials,Events

I posted a few weeks ago, that Nokia will be launching their own reply to the Blackberry in the form of a Nokia C3. The competition is about to start, and it will be good you begin to prepare and research. Interestingly there seems to be something in the offering from Nokia for Avenues to Wealth distributors and members as well. Before it all unveils, here is how it will all run.

BACKGROUND

Nokia plans to Introduce its range of messaging devices including the C3 into the Nigerian Market

Ahead of the actual media launch event, there is the need to create a buzz about Nokia’s messaging devices with the C3 as the lead device

It is a “Pre-Event” Activity which is to lead to the launch of the phone

The idea is to engage key Nigerian bloggers to run a competition for a week where people need to answer certain questions

At the end of the week, one person wins the C3 device.

DESCRIPTION

Bloggers will engage their audience for a duration of 5 days during which, questions relating to the upcoming Nokia C-series will be asked and answers will be sent to these blog sites

The public will be intimated about the quiz a week to actual commencement in order to gear them up

Questions will be asked on a daily basis with hidden clues to the answers

The users will send in the answers to the questions ONLY after ALL the questions have been posted on the blogs – which means that they would accumulate their answers and send them in after all the questions have been posted on the blogs

At the end of the final day, the winner is announced on the blog and notified by E-mail

The prizes will presented to winners during the official Media Launch for C3

SCHEDULE

Submission of answers closes on Thursday 2nd September at 6:00pm

The questions can be posted in any particular order

Format for the answers may be determined by the blogger but should be accompanied by E-mail addresses of senders

Converting Tests to Testimonies

A lot has happened lately with the financial sector in Nigeria. This has led to a number of people losing their jobs, and a list being compiled of more to come. Many people in the banking industry are ending their year without much hope, and many are anxious of what awaits them in the new year.

If you work in the banking sector in Nigeria and have either lost your job or are afraid you might, then this small meeting is for you. We are organizing a meeting of Bankers and Entrepreneurs. We are fishing out entrepreneurs who have been bankers, entrepreneurs who forcefully entered the productivity market and entrepreneurs who left and at a point in their lives had nothing. It’s a serious meeting for a select few, we have number constraints so we want to ensure the meeting features people that are really dying for this opportunity. Continue Reading »

Sweet Mother

“Announcements : “Please join me in congratulating Omozele for winning the position of top commenter in June. Kindly send me an email so you can redeem your gifts.” Also the details of our 26th of July  political meeting is coming up soon, we o have some big timers who were coming in, please stay tuned.”

Heaven gained my mum on the first day of the second half of the year 2009.  From a week before that day and today, I have been on the road between Ilorin and Lagos, I have also been in deep thought about life, about death, about love, about relationships and about family. I’ve asked myself very real questions about what I am doing with my life, what regrets I may have if I continue with my status quo. I have also tried to be strong for my dad, for my sibblings, for the family, the community, the church and very importantly for myself as well. On friday the 17th of July, 2009, my mum’s body was lowered into the grave.  Forgive me if I sound different from how you expect me to sound, this last 3 weeks of my life have transformed my life. I have burrowed deep into the soil beneath my existence and planted my roots far down, I have no doubts that my capacity for growth in the years ahead  have been enhanced.

I am missing my mum already, and I’m certain it’s only the beginning, but I am confident and convinced also that God has stepped in the fill the gap and the vacuum that this transistion would have created in our lives. I tell my friends proudly that I have never had any reason to go to the hospital in my life till date order than to remove or fill my teeth – Never!  Till a few weeks ago, all I ever do, is pick up my phone and dial my mum. She was my health google, she had all the answers, and they always worked. I thought this was my own little secret, I discovered to my amazement when the pastor of her church preached her closing sermon, that there are many people including the pastors family whose healths were just my mum’s phone number away. When I sit down to ruminate about the things that my mother got involved in, my efforts look like childsplay. Allowing her life to inspire mine, I am certain that I ought to do more. I can do much more than I am doing, you can do much more than you are doing! All you and I need to do, is to shift our thinking, and decide to do more! Don’t merely count your days, let your days count. Continue Reading »

I’m sure someone will read this post and smile, because it’s actually the name of a company in UK. It’s the name of a fantastic company run by fantastic people and has been responsible for managing every single one of New Nigeria Club’s events in the UK. If you want to have a classy, stress free and proper event in the UK, I highly recommend Events and Things, and you can trust that they will not charge you any hidden costs.

Now back to what I had in mind. This post is simply to alert readers of DeoluAkinyem about some opportunities and meetings happening around so you can be a part of them and also invite others. It is also to provide some administrative information about certain new things that will be featured on DeoluAkinyemi.com in the coming weeks. ..and about the Announcements up there.. yeah in case you noticed, the spelling can’t be helped :) Continue Reading »

Sex2Sex Summit

Advertorial: A sex2sex summit will be holding at 9am on Saturday the 20th of September, 2008. It’s going to be the biggest gathering of people taking a stand for their future, Nigeria’s future and their sexuality. Facilitators for these event include, Fela Durotoye, Adeolu Akinyemi, Tara Feladurotoye, Tosan (cakes) Jemide, Toyosi Akerele, Praise Fowowe and Professor Pat Utomi. It will be a good opportunity to have all these people in one spot and have access to all of them. Plan to attend. It’s a New Nigeria Club backed and sponsored event! Our statistics say that by 2020 75Million Nigerians will be living with HIV/AIDS, we can’t afford to pretend to be blind!

Here are some thoughts from the convener, Praise Fowowe

For a long time we have all kept quiet waiting for someone else to be responsible for our responsibility. We looked up to the 1st world countries for aids and we got AIDS in return. Now we need them to help us mop the effect of the virus in Africa.

We all know the truth but try to run away from it. We have forgotten the adage that says if you don’t know where you are going at least you must remember where you are coming from. Where are we coming from Nigerians? Continue Reading »

Nigeria Bloggers Conference

The BIT Session and NNC Launch in the UK went well. It was refreshing to see people outside the shores of Nigeria benefiting from what is going on back home – we had fun, laughed out loudly, and shared wealth creating opportunities that are currently open to NNC members. Being in the UK has also provided it’s own set of learning opportunities, I’m getting to better understand the system here – transport and financial. How things work, what works, what doesn’t, and the best ways to make the most of this environment. Having said that, I’ll be coming back to the UK for another BIT session on the 27th of September, 2008. And thought the first was good, the second is going to be better!

While I was in the airport in Nigeria, I got a brainwave I have been nursing since then. With every passing day, the idea has developed a little more flesh and a little more flesh. Right now, I believe I have a great idea, that will put smiles on the faces of thousands of Nigerians, and the Nation at large. The idea is hot and sizzling, and you can’t afford not to be part of the first set of people to hear it. One thing I can guarantee though is that no one present for this meeting will regret it, in fact, many will be forever grateful they made the date. Continue Reading »

P.A.T.R.I.O.T.I.C

One of the core things that the New Nigeria Club seeks to address is the question of identity. Not just image, but identity. In this classification, image is how you are perceived while perception is how you see yourself. True sustainable image is one that is projected directly from one’s sense of personal identity. If what I am projecting as who I am is not who I really am, it’s only a matter of time before all my projections break down.

There was a question I was asked yesterday, I’ll like to ask you too. What makes someone a Nigerian. What is our unique selling point? What differentiates us, for what course are we willing to die. Who is a Nigerian? What are our values? What do we believe in? What binds us together? For the Americans it’s easy, it’s freedom. The free spirit has been branded the American spirit. Many American’s have died for Freedom, they have a statue of Liberty that is a National Icon, they believe in freedom of speech, of e.t.c. America is synonymous to freedom! When you think Singapore, you think cleanliness. They are so crazy about keeping the town beautiful and clean that they go to almost any length. As far as ensuring their citizens or visitors don’t chew gum, for fear they might not find where to stick it :) . For Germany it’s commitment, e.t.c. There are some other countries like these, some known for fashion, some known for machines, some known for their technology, some for their piracy e.t.c. What is Nigeria known for, what what makes us Nigerian, and what should it rather be? Continue Reading »
