The Most Important Revelations 2

I started this series last week, so if this is the first version you are reading, I recommend that you access the first article in the series here. We are in a quest to uncover important revelations and insights. The ones that have the capacity to change our lives visibly.

The first point, is still the one that will be dwelt on here, is the fact that man is as he thinks. You are what you think! Our behavior naturally come forth out of who we are in our thoughts. Continue reading

What Do You Do Online?

(C) www.topnews.in

If you are reading this, then it’s because you spend quite a considerable amount of time on the internet.  I remembered in 2001 when I opened my first page online. I was so fascinated with the internet that I would just come up with names and type dot com in front of them. E.g. go.com score.com lawyer.com, travel.com etc

I hadn’t discovered Google then and it was difficult to expand my mind about what good websites where available. It wasn’t until later that I stumbled on Google, learnt about Search & later  hi5 & TIG etc.

I spent my early years wandering on the internet without really doing something meaningful except check my email & hang out on Hi5. Now I am more enlightened and I tend to do something more meaningful.

Therefore, as a first post on this blog, I have decided to share with you 5 things you REALLY should do online so as to maximise the time you spend on it & at the same time create value:

  • Start a blog: Yes, if you don’t have a blog yet, then you really need to start one. It doesn’t matter what you write about, you’ll find your voice and subsequently your audience.  Xiaxue blogs about make-up’s & random travel rants and gets as much as 60,000 visitors weekly. I believe you can start a blog and build massive readers for it. If you have a blog already…then stick with it…you have  raving fans who enjoy your Blogpost, either they leave comments or not.
  • Watch Ted.Com: I currently use a CDMA 3G and I’m able to watch videos on Ted.com without skips. Ted allows you to watch videos of “Ideas worth spreading” and each speaker gets 18 minutes to present ideas in engaging and innovative ways. I have watched our own Chimanda Adichie give a speech on the “The danger of a single story” and it was inspiring. I also have watched Richard Branson talk about how he started out. All in all, TED is one of the most educative resources that I use online…and I encourage you to use it too
  • Create a Facebook Page: Yes, there are millions of Nigerians on Facebook. I have seen lots of bizarre Facebook pages that have thousands of fans and I’ve come to the conclusion that just anyone can create one. Examples include this & this. Simply be creative about your pages and you can get massive followership.
  • Start an online Radio Station: Yep, you can own your own Radio station online. And no, you don’t need NBC’s approval; neither do you need massive infrastructure. Do you have any special talent? Do you have knowledge about something specific? Do you have passion for a specific idea that can be shared? Then simply download & install Audacity to record your voice, and  upload your 5-30 minutes recording on www.mypodcast.com, then invite your friends to listen to your recording and there you go…you have your own radio station.
  • Start An online TV Station: Yes, same applies. You can do an onscreen recording of your presentation (could be powerpoint) using  camstudio (its Free!!!), create a Channel and upload on youtube. Your channel can be specific to a topic with thousands of visitors. A very good example is Lisa’s Youtube Channel that has 25,0000 suscribers. And by the way, if you have an excuse that you are using a slow connection, I am sure that you can record 5 minutes video and upload in parts and this can make your upload easier.

So…instead of wasting too much precious time checking pictures, waiting for your friends to leave status updates on facebook so you can comment & reading gossip wesites, you can become a creator of something meaningful on the internet and create a cult following for yourself. I have given you some very good ideas to start with….So get on with it…

Success Factors

A few years ago, I had the awe inspiring responsibility of being the Talent Supply Manager for one of the best companies to work for in the world. Shortly before I finished from university, I had stumbled on the name of the company in a book titled the best 100 companies to work for in America, so it was a desirable place for me. Unknown to me, I would go on, to be responsible for determining who gets in, and who does not in just a few years from reading the book. There were many things great about the company – It had at that time been in existence for over 165yrs, it had 110,000 employees worldwide, it invented quite a number of amazing products and concepts and more, but these are not the greatest things about the company. The greatest accolades that the company won were in 1. Quality of Talents that worked in the company and 2. Quality of Management, as evidenced by the fact that many of the other top companies ranking as companies to work for had their CEOs as alumni of this company. Continue reading

How to Build Sustainable Wealth

Money Tree

The more I think about the way the world works, and the invisible hand that works the world, the more I am awed. It’s so interesting that the resources exist for all who care to be wealthy to truly be wealthy. It is amazing that there are enough resources on the planet to make everyone wealthy, yet less than 10% of the world control more than 90% of it’s resources. The earth is on course, it stays it’s course under the influence of forces that are backed up by explainable laws. In the same consistent way, every process on earth is backed by principles. If you know the principles and laws governing a result, you can always replicate it!

I don’t know if it excites you as it  excites me, that $1 kept at 20% per annum can become $1million in 75yrs. If it is managed at even 3% it can still become $1million in 468yrs. I’m sure you think this is too long a time, but look at it this way. It means everybody can own and build a foundation. I can give $1 to my bankers, and write a will to back it, instructing them to give away $30,000 yearly on my behalf  once  my money has become $1million. If  we are  more consistent with our savings and educated with our investments, we can all become multi millionaires in our lifetime. To build sustainable wealth has a how to, I cannot claim I am there, but I can say I’m on the path. The little advice and ideas that I share here, if put to use, will be of tremendous value to someone. Maybe you, maybe someone else you know that you can send this link to.

To build sustainable wealth, here are the key things you should do. Continue reading

How to Expand Your Business

This was the topic of my presentation to an exciting group of entrepreneurs earlier today. Think about this topic and the things I shared with them, I realize this information would be useful to a lot of people. Some of those people are reading this directly, and some others need to refer people to this link so that they can come and read as well. In the next few days, I have a few “How to’s” in my mind to share. These are really easy things that if you know and practice can make a lot of difference in your business and in your life.

The first ground rule however, if you truly want to learn, is to first empty your cup. You will not learn anything new, if you assume you already know. Knowledge or the assumption of it, is the greatest hindrance to more knowledge. As teacher students – the most excellent type of student, the one that listens to become a teacher, we must constantly humble ourselves and learn. We must not let knowledge puff  us up and make us resistant to new information. The day the seal of knowledge locks our ears, is the day we become useless and irrelevant to new possibilities around us. 20yrs experience as an employee does not equate to years of experience running a business. Sometimes the way up, is down. Never let any level of knowledge rob you of what you don’t know. There is no fool, like an old fool. Once you have laid aside your prejudices, let’s delve into how you can expand your business. Continue reading

How to Stay Sharp

I’ve been a bit out of circulation for the past 4 days. It’s been a hectic one for me, I’ve been co-facilitating and co-learning a great deal at the Holidays and Cash Leadership Academy 100 level. It’s a really mixed class with an age range of 24-60yrs of age. We are all from different walks of life with different experiences and backgrounds. The class content, energy and opportunities to learn are rich. It’s been a great 4 days and we have 6 more intensive days to go. The training has forced me to go beyond knowing to doing, to utilize what I had kept as knowledge, and in so doing I’m becoming better. It’s funny, but I don’t think I have put myself under the kind of pressure I’m putting myself through now, in a while, it’s so demanding yet so refreshing.

My mind casts back to those days gone, years past when I was under constant pressure. Pressure to teach another the content of a course, pressure to stand in front of a fellowship and share the Word. The pressure of accountability to live right because many other lives depended on yours. The pressure of praying from 12 midnight till 3am regularly without fail, the pressure of studying the scriptures and not just reading it. The pressure of always having a fresh word. I once in a while get asked, how do you stay so sharp and current, how do you stay so knowledgeable? The answer, is quite simple. Continue reading

Antioch Experience Recap

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]

The Antioch Experience was an experience! About 40 professionals gathered together for an 8hrs prayer meeting. God was present, his presence and revelations were real. Indeed he crowns our year with goodness, and his paths drop fatness.  Many annointed children led different aspects of the prayer and there was no low energy moment.  We are confident that this meeting will be a reference point for us for years to come. It was indeed an Antioch experience.

Please find below some of the prophetic words we recieved for the coming year. While we expect that things will continue to grow darker and more confusing in the nation and world at large, God’s people have an opportunity to enjoy in Goshen while the world gets visited with calamities. What is below does not exhaust what God ministered to us, but at least even though you were not there you can share in what God can also make real in your life. Continue reading

Random Thoughts

Today, I simply feel like freestyling, too many topics fighting in my mind for attention, I don’t want to be bound by one topic. As I reminisce over the last 11 months of this amazing year, my heart swells with gratitude to God, and is slightly punctuated by unexpressed tears gathering momentum in my tear sac. My mind is well trained, not to ask the questions for which the answers are clear. Today is (I can’t seem to use past tense) my mum’s birthday, and oh, how I miss calling her and and hearing her reassuring voice.  So today, I just want to well it out from my heart, demonstrate gratitude by counting the blessings that can be counted in public, sharing the bitter sweet lessons, and giving everybody a reason to have hope, to trust and to obey.
Mummy’s Day
It’s my mum’s day today, and though I know the righteous do not die, they sleep, I miss her.  If you read the two articles I wrote at the time of her departure in the second half of this year, you’ll see what an enigma she was. Sweet mother and Lessons from the life of my mum. Interestingly however, even though fast asleep from this current existence, she’s more alive than many who still have breath, or how do you reconcile these things. On my Fathers birthday for example, my mum’s phone suddenly comes back to live and starts beeping and alarm, on the face of the phone was a cake and lights and a message – Jo’s (meaning sweetheart) birthday! My father was happily shocked and told me about it, in my mind the phrase that rang – “Still relevant!”. A few weeks ago, my dad asked me to tell any of my friends coming to Lagos to him, that my mum’s farm of Yams have just been harvested and he wants to send the yam to all the children (we) and siblings.  We are still eating the yam from my mum’s farm, it’s a lot of yam as it was a huge farm, in my mind? Still relevant! You are alive and well, are you relevant? Who are you relevant to? Is your life relevant to now, and are you living to be relevant in eternity?Relationships
Whenever I think about this year, one of the things I’m most grateful for are the people God has brought into my life. Please understand that whatever God will deliver into your hands must come via the vehicle of people, value will change hands till that which you desire comes to you. He who is seperated from all relationships is on the pathway to ruin. This year has been a great year for me in the context of relationships. I’m in a friendly relationship with so many great people, my personal accessible network has doubled. I have also added value to more people than I have ever, travelled more widely and simply enjoyed the company of family and friends who last year were total strangers. The door to my abundance is wide, there are many channels through which the divine can cause my desires to reach me. It’s worth every clap and shout of praise.
Are you conciously adding value to people? Are you building quality relationships? Or is this your year of  ”My Job first”? Poeple are our connectors with our possibilities, they are the access points through which our desires are delivered, they are our options. Don’t let work clubber you into a position where all that is left with you, are the people you are forced to work with, who don’t like you very much and who you don’t send either.
Opportunities
I had a few great opportunities this year, I also had many not so good opportunities. What I have learnt however is that if one is great it sometimes covers for 20 others.  One success wipes away the memory of many failures. The challenge is not in failing, it is stopping short of success.  This year has been a year of tremendous learning for me,  infact it has made me look back in time with absolutely no regrets, as even the rough and rugged times of my life have prepared me for the opportunity of now.  No experience in life is a waste, every experience shifts your benchmark, sharpens your mind and prepares you for the next. I am sincerely sad for those whose past failures have numbed from positive movement. I’m sad for those who have taken their current realities as the TRUTH and have refused to listen to the inner guidance of their maker. I weep for those who will not amount to much in life, because fear has eaten deep into the fabrics of their soul. Does your philosophy allow you to seek for opportunities, or do you operate with a closed mind and limited options?
