The First Million Dollars

I have it in authority from converstations with a number of wealthy people, that the first million dollars is the hardest million to make. Once you learn the key skills to overcome this, the rest is pretty simple.

Well, I decided to keep quiet about this, until I have first experiemented with my life and have proof that it can be done. I’m glad to say to you without boasting or bragging that it has been done, and it can be replicated. There are many who have gained wealth in ways that are not duplicable, even they are not really sure about how they got it. It happened based on things they do not understand, and they can’t give others a road map. Continue reading

Lessons from Thailand

I’m just returning from 10 amazing days in Thailand. The trip was not only thrilling and exciting it was enlightening. This was my first time in Thailand, but certainly not going to be my last. I have been to Turkey, Malaysia, UAE,  to Singapore, to India, journeyed to even amazing paradises on the indian ocean – Maldives and Mauritius. All have their lessons, Thailand had a special zing to it. It not only positions as a wonderful vacation resort, it doubles as a place for enlightenment  - spiritually, nationally, culturally e.t.c. This ranks as the best vacation experience organized by Avenues to Wealth till date, and from here, the future looks even more promising as we all compete towards being in Greece for the next company organized all expenses paid leadership event. Before I get engrossed in the past and future of the company however, kindly join me in learning some of the lessons from Thailand. Continue reading

What Do You Do Online?

(C) www.topnews.in

If you are reading this, then it’s because you spend quite a considerable amount of time on the internet.  I remembered in 2001 when I opened my first page online. I was so fascinated with the internet that I would just come up with names and type dot com in front of them. E.g. go.com score.com lawyer.com, travel.com etc

I hadn’t discovered Google then and it was difficult to expand my mind about what good websites where available. It wasn’t until later that I stumbled on Google, learnt about Search & later  hi5 & TIG etc.

I spent my early years wandering on the internet without really doing something meaningful except check my email & hang out on Hi5. Now I am more enlightened and I tend to do something more meaningful.

Therefore, as a first post on this blog, I have decided to share with you 5 things you REALLY should do online so as to maximise the time you spend on it & at the same time create value:

  • Start a blog: Yes, if you don’t have a blog yet, then you really need to start one. It doesn’t matter what you write about, you’ll find your voice and subsequently your audience.  Xiaxue blogs about make-up’s & random travel rants and gets as much as 60,000 visitors weekly. I believe you can start a blog and build massive readers for it. If you have a blog already…then stick with it…you have  raving fans who enjoy your Blogpost, either they leave comments or not.
  • Watch Ted.Com: I currently use a CDMA 3G and I’m able to watch videos on Ted.com without skips. Ted allows you to watch videos of “Ideas worth spreading” and each speaker gets 18 minutes to present ideas in engaging and innovative ways. I have watched our own Chimanda Adichie give a speech on the “The danger of a single story” and it was inspiring. I also have watched Richard Branson talk about how he started out. All in all, TED is one of the most educative resources that I use online…and I encourage you to use it too
  • Create a Facebook Page: Yes, there are millions of Nigerians on Facebook. I have seen lots of bizarre Facebook pages that have thousands of fans and I’ve come to the conclusion that just anyone can create one. Examples include this & this. Simply be creative about your pages and you can get massive followership.
  • Start an online Radio Station: Yep, you can own your own Radio station online. And no, you don’t need NBC’s approval; neither do you need massive infrastructure. Do you have any special talent? Do you have knowledge about something specific? Do you have passion for a specific idea that can be shared? Then simply download & install Audacity to record your voice, and  upload your 5-30 minutes recording on www.mypodcast.com, then invite your friends to listen to your recording and there you go…you have your own radio station.
  • Start An online TV Station: Yes, same applies. You can do an onscreen recording of your presentation (could be powerpoint) using  camstudio (its Free!!!), create a Channel and upload on youtube. Your channel can be specific to a topic with thousands of visitors. A very good example is Lisa’s Youtube Channel that has 25,0000 suscribers. And by the way, if you have an excuse that you are using a slow connection, I am sure that you can record 5 minutes video and upload in parts and this can make your upload easier.

So…instead of wasting too much precious time checking pictures, waiting for your friends to leave status updates on facebook so you can comment & reading gossip wesites, you can become a creator of something meaningful on the internet and create a cult following for yourself. I have given you some very good ideas to start with….So get on with it…

He Got Away With It!

Being a working mother is a tough job, this particular woman lives in Ikeja G.R.A environs, tries to get home early enough from work, but her daughter usually gets home before her and waits at the security post for “mummy” to come. One day, mummy comes home a little earlier than normal, instead of seeing the 6yr old daughter waiting patiently outside the security post, she notices the girl coming out of the security post, and the security guard rushing out shortly after. Mummy, filled with worry, concern and “this can’t be possible”, decides to pull up her daughters gown… yeah, you guessed it. All over her thighs was the guards semen. Mummy could not contain her rage and anguish at the stack horror she had just unveiled, this had been going on for months. The average Nigerian mother feels it right to send away the guard and cover the shame, not this mother. She took it up legally, in fact what I know is as related by a judge. The guard is alive and well, and back to his normal life. He got away with it!

Nobody likes to be a laughing stock, and for the fear of being laughed at, many of us adults learned to keep our mouths shut. We even devised a proverb around it – better to be thought foolish and quiet, than to open our mouth and erase all doubt. This little 5yr old girl confided in her mum -”Mummy, Uncle Victor chucked pin in my bum bum”. Mummy laughed it off hilariously, and the little girl withdrew and kept quiet. She had not been educated to pronounce the word “penis” and said pin. Uncle Victor, continued to chuck pin in her bum bum for another 7yrs, and… He got away with it! Continue reading

Opportunities that will make you Enemies

I have been involved in a lot of opportunities in my life, I’ve always been entrepreneurial (mum’s blood), and people are usually puzzled when I talk about the things I have been involved with. I have sold bread and egg (when I was in secondary school), barbed hair, made greeting/love cards and bookmarks, co-owned and managed a dry-cleaning (wash, starch, iron and packaging) company. I have done transport business, bought and resold far produce and written certificates for a University. I have been involved in Mining, done network marketing ( and a few companies masquerading as such) and have even been involved in a few investment related businesses.

If there is anything that I have learnt, I have learnt that even though it’s good to pursue opportunities, there are opportunities that have the capacity to mess you up and destroy your integrity. These businesses are things one must do due diligence on, and get involved with clarity about what their future holds. I have held myself back from publicly sharing my thoughts on a number of companies, but please spare me today, as I share them with you from my perspective! I’m going to be like an economist in my analysis, offering you the facts and not necessarily taking sides. I confess that I am biased, I am heavily biased by experience, I am biased based on the people I have seen and the woes that they share. Please get my verdict here once and for all on TVI,  Travel Access Club, Holidays and Cash, High Street Market.Forever Living Products, Tianshi, VIPexpress, RVI, Questnet, 5linx, e.t.c. Possibility Seeking Expression

“Desire is possibility seeking expression” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is perhaps one of the most apt definitions of desire I have come across in my personal development journey. I stumbled on this quote in the book, Science of Getting Rich, and it’s a quote and a theme that has appeared quite frequently after that in my journey. Desire is possibility seeking expression or function seeking performance. This means that the desire that you have, is an indication of possibilities. You do not  have the desire, if the thing that is desired is impossible. It might have been impossible to the world before you came, but once the desire is birthed in you, it triggers a vision or is triggered by one, and it only takes commitment and time.

Just recently I listened to an audio where the speaker was narrating the story of Bill Gates from an interesting mind lens. According to him, Bill Gates had a vision while he was in Harvard.  He had a vision that one day, computers will be a household phenomena and that there will be operating systems running on them. Whether this was a vision he saw in the day or night is not clear, but there was something that he saw, heard or felt that came to him that made him believe such a future unseen possibility. Recollect, that the world vision ahead of that time, sponsored by the leader in the computer industry was captured in the quote below.

“I think there’s a world market for about 5 computers.”-(Thomas J. Watson, Chairman of the Board, IBM, circa 1948)

Bill Gates caught a glimpse of a possibility seeking expression, and that thought propelled him and his partner Paul Allen to drop out of arguably the worlds most prestigious university and to ultimately found Microsoft. I have read Bill Gates biography a number of times, I’m a fan of his in quite some regards. The concept of Bill Gates having insights into an unseen, and organizing his life to allow the unseen to have expression ala walking in faith got me to read some excerpts of his biography again. I decided to be Berean, and search out his story to see a trace of what guided him into being the richest man in the world for 15yrs+ Continue reading

Religious Brain Drain

There is a trend I’m picking up and it’s grieving my soul. The most religious (Christian or otherwise) societies in the world, are it’s poorest and most underdeveloped. The cities that pack millions into auditoriums are the ones that don’t have any representation in other aspects of human influence. It’s seems like an inversion of everything that I have learnt, that light should give illumination, that spiritual enlightenment should lead to economic, social, governmental and whole revival. Thorough analysis however reveals, that the opposite is true. Continue reading

Mind Your Language

Wheeeh, wheeeh…. weeeeh. These were probably the first words your lips ever uttered. It’s incomprehensible in most languages, it’s the first communication that typically leaves the lips of a baby. We were not born with the skill of any language, we learnt to talk! Where you and I are today in our use of language, is a function of what we have learnt, or allowed ourselves to learn. Like with most things however, less than 20% of humanity occupy a proficiency level higher than 80%. For most of us, the powerful tool of words is grossly underutilized. My objective in this peice is to arm you with a comprehensive talkkit to enable you achieve more with your mouth.

Before you delve into this specially prepared delicacy, let me further whet your appetite. If you get things right with your words, it can literally help to turn your life around. You can experience more joy, more wealth, greater relationships, better self awareness and esteem, you’ll ooze  more confidence,  be more charming, achieve more and your game will clearly step up. If you make use of what you are about to read, and form habits out of some of these instructions, you will become successful, you will radically improve and your progress and the comments it will elicit from your friends and family will be UNBELIEVABLE!
