When we were all born, we all had a clean slate. A clean state in terms of experiences, knowledge, and cravings. We had no idea of the meals we’ll love, nor the people we’ll be friendly with, nor the books we’ll read. We had a clean slate, then we started feeding.

As human beings we are a body, a soul and a spirit, the center peice of the human being is the soul. The soul is the sit of the human will, and takes instructions from the spirit or the body. The spirit is infinite while the body is limited. The cravings of the spirit are longterm oriented, while the cravings of the flesh are short term focused. The demands of the body are louder, the requests of the spirit man is with a still and small voice. The demands of the body are usually at logger heads with the demands of the human spirit, and these two are regularly at war.

Our eventual identity is the result of what we have fed. If you feed your flesh, your results will be limited to the limits of the flesh - corruption and decay. If you feed your spirit you will reap the limits of the spirit, which is infinite and eternal. You (ideally your soul) loses power to whichever of these two potential lords it feeds. (more…)

Is Success Easy?

Once upon a time, there was a very rich king who had a very beautiful daughter. This daughter was so beautiful that she was the desire of every prince for hundreds of kilometers, the toast of the rich, and the dream of the poor. The princess was so lovely and well mannered she was simply out of this world.

The king knew that finding true love for his daughter would be a problem, so he decided to set up a competition to decide who would marry his only daughter and consequently reign as king after him. He decided to fill his big swimming pool with 40 hungry crocodiles. He set a day for the competition and informed all the choice men around town, that the man who would have his daughter’s hand in marriage is one that would be courageous enough to swim through the pool of crocodiles, come out alive at the other end, and be the first to do the same.

The crowd of aspiring and choice young men piled in front of the house of the king… (more…)

I am not afraid of failure!

It’s 12 midnight already, am about to pack up my laptop and go to sleep, but not just quite yet, I have some thoughts from the events of today that have been inspirational for me, and I think it’s good I share. I have quit trying to please all, trying to please all is one of the sure ways to fail. He who will please all will lose his donkey.

There is a world of difference between saying I have failed three times and saying I am a failure. Failing is the birthing place of success.  Some of the things I have done lately has won a lot of applause, and a number of boos.  The worst that can happen is that I fail, but then, I would never be listed amongst the cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat from not haven tried. I’ll rather be an exemplary failure, than some of the timid souls whose specialization is running commentaries about the lives of others. Taking Position

Welcome to the second half of the greatest match of your life- Year 2007. I don’t know how fulfilling this year has been for you, but if you are a regular on this channel, I’m sure it has been exciting. I don’t know how far ahead the first half moved you, or how many goals down you are, but I assure you, if what I see ahead for you is anything to go by, you will not only equalize, you will win! Half the Year is gone already, today, is the 3rd day in the second half, it’s 2am in the morning, I’ve been struggling to shut my eyes for almost an hour, but I’m so inspired tonight, that I can’t go to bed, without expressing the burning thoughts in my heart. There is nowhere I’m hurrying to tomorrow morning, I will write, that I might be refreshed.

One of the strongest themes that have reverberated consistently in my heart this year is the phrase, taking position. I don’t know how you see this year, but one thought that ever comes to mind whether I’m in deep meditation or trying to think ahead, is the caption - Taking Position. This year is a year, where people will take positions. It’s a year of transitions. Some we have experienced as a nation, but most we will experience as individuals. It’s not all that I expect to agree with me, but as many has have hearts who feel touched by this thought, I am sent. This year, you will take position! (more…)

Who I aspire to be!

I read a story today that gave me a picture of my true aspirations. I had given one of my protege’s an assignment, I asked him to read a book, summarize it and present it to me as a PowerPoint presentation. It had taken him over 3 weeks, not haven used MS PowerPoint before. Eventually he came to make the presentation. First of all, he will need to redo the exercise, but in the spirit of everything is useful, I decided to pay close attention to a story in the e-book he read. Here is the story (tweaked to express my views).

There was once an old fellow, woman or man, I cannot tell. He had been at a particularly strategic spot for about 30yrs begging for alms. On this particular day, a stranger approached him, an in his regular style he called on to the stranger and held out his hand for the stranger to give something. Instead of giving him something, the stranger responded -”I don’t have anything to give you!” Then he asked, “what is that you are sitting on?” “Nothing,” replied the beggar. “Just an old box. I have been sitting on it for as long as I can remember.” “Ever looked inside?” asked the stranger. “No,” said the beggar. “What’s the point? There’s nothing in there.” “Have a look inside,” insisted the stranger. The beggar managed to pry open the lid. With astonishment, disbelief, and elation, he saw that the box was filled with gold. Have you ever wondered about the disparity of your value and your present circumstances? Have you ever wondered that you wake up so early, close so late and are not in control of much of it? Have you ever thought that you are a lot bigger than the confinement you find yourself in, or that you are more capable than what you are doing? Have you ever asked if this is all there is about you? Are you struggling with any limitation? Bothered by any occurrence? Are you looking forward to something, or waiting for something to end? Are you mixed up in a wrong crowd, relationship or office? One day, one day, the ground that holds the seed, will give way to it’s growth. One day, one day!

Are you familiar with that statement? One day, one day! It’s as if people are waiting for a particular day for the shackles on their feet to give way. People are waiting for the offer of freedom, tired and frustrated, people relinquish all hope into the hands of one day! But does one day come without warning? We all have excuses

Have you every tried to consciously try to make excuses for yourself? Why not try right now. Your top 20 excuses for not being beyond where you are now? Your excuses for not having a good grade, a good job, a good relationship, a good car, great investments. Don’t procrastinate this, go ahead, take a sheet of paper and write down your excuses, good or bad, write them down.

In case you are still reading and not doing anything about it, don’t just read this, try to form excuses for yourself, don’t just think them in your head, write them down. Ok, use a small sheet of paper, grab a post it. Make sure you make the excuses about an area of life that you really desire to succeed in. Don’t think too long about whether the excuses are legit or not, just make them anyway. Make your excuses before you click on the link ahead to read the remaining part of the article. How to stay strong in moments of weakness

We all have these moments! Don’t feel like you are alone in the world for feeling tired, frustrated or fed up, there are those moments! But those moments don’t just come, they come for a reason. Everything that happens is either cause or effect, and believe me getting tired and fed up is not a cause, it’s an effect.

In case you are wondering, “what did I do, to cause this?” or “Why me?” don’t worry for long, there is a way in, and there is a way out. Weak moments will happen, but you can stay strong in the midst of them. Here are a few tips on how not to get there, and how to get out. (more…)

Gratitude Attracts

Just this morning, I was opportuned to teach some teenagers about cultivating an attitude of gratitude. I think the best way to end the year is to be grateful, both for the things that were great, and the things that didn’t appear so great.

Why do you or I need to be grateful you might ask?  Well, why shouldn’t you, when there are so many reasons to be? Being alive, for one, is a good reason to be grateful.

It’s easy to be grateful for the things that go well and were expected to, but we also need to be able to show gratitude for things that didn’t go as planned. Why? Because the universe works in an interesting way. The attitude of gratitude, draws abundance and supply towards you, while the attitude of complain and ingratitude pushes away abundance and supply away from you. (more…)

10 things I learnt this year

This year has been a great year for me, I have learnt more this year, than I have in the past years put together. I have grown and matured more this year, than all my years. It’s been wonderful for me. Don’t get me wrong this year surely had it’s rough and tough times, but each experience this year, has left me a better, more capable and wiser person. It’s really difficult for me to rank the things I have learnt this year, but I’m documenting the first ten that come to mind. Some of them may sound hard, don’t discard them because the student in you is not ready, or because you do not presently agree with them. File them away, time may tell. (more…)
