I want to reveal a secret to you, please relax. You have already gotten to open this post, so you are ahead of a long line of people who wait a little longer to read. I’m going to share my heart with you, I’ll hope you’ll read me with your heart as well. Once our hearts believe, our heads can easily follow. I’ll also ask for your permission on a few things. If you can oblige me those things, this post and the mail you are about to read, will make a real difference in your life this year! Here are my few requests.

1. Before you continue reading question 2, make up you mind to empty yourself of all prejudices and preconcieved notions about referral based businesses. It might be tough I know, but your preconcieved positions will limit you. Trust me. Read objectively, and look with fresh eyes.

2. Don’t jump to the bottom, try and read this line by line and with an open mind.

3. Make your decision within 24hrs and take action. What you are reading will not be useful to you otherwise. Believe me though that it will make a difference if you conciously and delibrately make a positive move.

This are all that I require you to have in mind as you read further.

It’s one thing to read about something, it’s another thing to know it, and it’s yet another thing to practice what you read and know. I had known that there were broadly two types of people when it comes to difficult problems, the ones that walk away, and the ones that stay unreasonably to solve the problem. I didn’t know until lately that I was more of the person that walks away than the person that stays to solve and resolve.

For 6 months I refused to participate in a business opportunity that is currently transforming my life! Why did I refuse? I refused because I believed I had gotten enough of referral based businesses (Network Marketing, Direct Selling, Multilevel Marketing, Affiliate Marketing e.t.c.) and I simply had quietly decided to walk away. I had made a few losses and some over exaggerated successes, but I didn’t feel good with the fact that a lot of people came out of those ventures as outright losers. I care more for value, a good name and great friends, than I could ever care for money – and these businesses were just not making it happen for me. I walked away unannounced, and was marketed with regularity for over 6 months and I refused to move an inch. Thank God for the insistence of my marketing mentor and friend Michael Faust, and the constant nudging of two other friends in UK and Australia whose names I will feature in time.

After a long while, I decided to ask myself a fundamental question. I decided to ask for support to practically answer these questions by the company. The answers to this question, and the position I could take made me take action. I’m hoping you see them as well. I decided to walk away eventually from any referral business that has to do with BOARDS, but I decided to stay and make things right in what I saw when I dared to empty my cup.

What is the problem of referral based businesses, and can they be solved?

Problem1: The owners of the companies often times are not credible, they stay invisible, they don’t come to Nigeria, have no local registeration in Nigeria and might one day just shut down their systems and dissappear into thin air.

Solution: Can we ensure that the leaders of the company are known to a lot of Nigerians? Can we ensure that they come to Nigeria? Can we ensure the companies are locally registered in Nigeria and allow Nigerians to part own the company? Can we ensure the involvement of a local credible entrepreneur like Prof Pat Utomi as the Chairman of the Nigerian company? Can we ensure that Nigerians meet all the board members and that the Chairman also meets all the foreigners?

Status: 99% Done. Agreements to be concluded with Chairman in August. (8-14th in Mauritius)

Problem2: Usually these companies sell products that are of No value to Nigerians. Nigerians participate only because of the financial possibilities from referring others. People end up feeling scammed when they buy products they don’t intend to use, and refuse to market to make the money they planned to make.

Solution: Can we ensure that there are many options of products? Can we ensure that once you buy a particular product you get amazing discounts on the rest? Can we ensure that peopel can get IBM thinkpad laptops (German Refurbished) for as low as N29,000 and get it bundled with other great products? Can we get people an opportunity to develop themselves with e-books worth $3000 as an add on? Can people buy landed property at discounted prices and still earn from referring others to any of the products? Can people buy personal branding kits? Attend special trainings as product offers? Use their privilege packs to book local flights at riddiculous prices? Save up to $800 on just one hotel bills for one international trip from a pack that costs less than 1/3 of the savings? Can we make this like a real online market with a baseline of refer and profit?

Status: 101% Done. And much more to come… inverters, cameras, e.t.c.

Problem3: These companies or “schemes” as many see them look easy before you start, but they end up being too much work. It’s as if you should never stop, cos once you stop, you do not earn anymore. The boards keep splitting and you have to keep running around and “getting people”. They have absolutely no passive income potential, and it’s difficult to predict what you need to do before you earn. The the bad part is once you have gotten so many people, they split so far away from you, that it doesn’t even pay you to help them.

Solution: Is it possible to have a model that actually has the possibility of generating passive income so that this doesn’t become another JOB and slave camp? Is it possible to predict exactly what needs to be done to get results? Is it possible to get results without depending on other people, just on one’s own efforts? Is it possible to help people, hear thank you and still directly help yourself? Is it possible to earn even when the person you are helping is 2000 generations and 5yrs away from you?

Status: 100% Done and Yes to all questions!

    If you want to purchase the laptops You pay between 70-90k depending on specks

    I’m reading a lot of comments that might make my write up miss leading.

    Please this is not an easy road. It’s also not a get rich quick scheme, far from it! With this opportunity it will not be quick, but it will be sure.

    It may not happen for you in 5weeks, but if you are persistent and committed, it will certainly happen for you.

  37. Network Marketing is a very good marketing concept, but Nigerians are selfish people and as such it will only always benefit just a few. There is also the wrong attitude of focusing on the cash benefit. This is so so wrong and it is the reason it will always benefit just a few (i.e. the 1st to join). Nigerians are never committed. Mark my words, 3 – 6 months down the line, H&C Nigeria will die in Nigeria. This is my BOLD prediction. Apart from the Laptop, what other product is relevant to Nigerians in H&C? Why is there no hotel listed in an African country for willing members to enjoin the benefits.
    My dear people, always ask for the product and be sure it’s a product that makes sense to you. Then and only then can network marketing be worthwhile.
    I always defend Network Marketing as a good marketing concept (and will always do) but in H&C I don’t see a future. Their product offer cannot sustain it! Unless it changes tomorrow. Introduce more products to benefit the ordinary Nigerians, and it will be a go-go! … unless I’m told Network Marketing is not for everybody!
    This is the other side of the coin, the one many don’t want to talk about! Peace!

  38. Points of note to all:
    1) Too many Nigerians are selfish, and care only for themselves, 2) Nigerians are not committed people and will soon tire of this H&C also, 3) There is the wrong attitude of focusing on the financial benefit and not on the product benefit.
    The Product, the product, the product!!! That is the only guarantee that this business will not go the way of the others. The product has to be meaningful to us Nigerians, it has to be easily accessible and enjoyed (not something that only a visa can give u access to). The only meaning product I see here is the refurbished laptop….the main product is not designed to be enjoyed by Nigerians….yet! How many Nigerians can get a visa? For once, Nigerians, focus NOT on the financial, BUT on the product. I believe in Network Marketing, but it must be “relevant-product” based! Peace! Any questions for me?

    If you don’t understand something, you should ask questions, not make predictions. I don’t know you, and many people don’t, but when you make hasty conclusions, people may also assume about you. It’s not worth it.

    Let me help you though.
    1. There are thousands of African hotels on the package.

    4. There are enough Nigerians who travel or plan to travel to make the business succeed, but it’s just one of the products.

    6. Rather than sit on high horses and ask what others should do, why not use your knowledge to join us and create solutions? We have too long lived in a country where superior thought is used to make arguments rather than solutions. Knowledge is not valuable to us if it can’t help make things better, are you willing to make things better or you just want to criticize?

    I’m very sorry if you are offended by my response, I mean no harm. I just feel that when people say more than they obviously know it’s because they ASS-U-ME and it tends to make an ASS of U and ME!

    You are someone I respect a lot, and part of what I expect from you is to be tolerant of diverse views and not resort to insults.

    Your opinion is your opinion, mine is mine. Either of us may or may not be right. I understand your passion to pass on knowledge, but are you trying to tell me that you are all-knowing and cannot be wrong? You have been wrong before and can still be wrong. I visit your blog and pick a lot of useful notes from it, but my guy sometimes you should not be too hasty in your lack of appreciation of others view. You don’t necessarily have to know me to appreciate what I have said, afterall your blog is open to all, or is it open to only those who follow everything you say? Of course not, and I think you are a noble person deep down….I appreciate you for that, but there will be certain things you say on your blog that some of us won’t agree to.

    Dear friend, I am not against you, your person, or your drive and passion. I simply want to convey my thoughts about this h&c just like you are doing. I may even join h&c in future….a future where I see the focus on the product, AND not the financial benefits.   41. Forgive my passion, I meant no insults. I just felt you should share your thoughts on facts and not assumptions. Sure you are welcome to join us, if you check the site I gave you and you come around you will discover that the future is here already. Many people fail because they expect reward to come without work, and because their eyes are on the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We are changing that however, week by week.

    I’m glad to inform you that beyond the rewards, people’s lives are being changed, people are meeting people, people are learning, and we are making alliances in places and with people we’ll never have met. This network has a number of CEOs, EDs, and Senior citizens. Members get to help people around them that are not as informed to book really cheap local flights, e.t.c. Plus – It’s product and finance, not or. Not all who sell Block own houses. And not all who have built houses should sell blocks.

    I have never traveled so widely on behalf of any other company, the model is such that encourages leaders to support their people no matter how far. It’s not about being first, it’s about being strong. I am not all knowing, neither do I expect consensus and agreement all the time. I expect to learn new things as well, and see new perspectives, I just like it when people are disagreeing with facts. Once again, I meant no harm.

  42. …..hmmmmmmm. what do I say? I am just reading this. Multilevel or network marketing is a very good tool for developing business. But has its fault too, many in time past have been this loud and in a short while disappeared into the air. Left several prospective businessmen in shambles. I think what is selling the product now is your personal credibility. Many joined because it’s Deolu and their Deolu’s fans. Well I am Deolu’s fan too but we all don’t have to jump on opportunities going by previous experience. …I have not made up my mind yet on what to do……..still thinking.

I’d like to have (1) background data about Michael Faust; (2) the previous enterprises he’s been involved in; (3) his present associates on the board of Holidays&Cash (in Australia). The company was launched in July, 2008, I believe, so the founder’s (and associates’) history in similar enterprises is a biggie for me, to join something like this.

  48. It's rather unfortunate that people fail to recognize genuine opportunities. Martins predicted that H&C will be no more in his 3-6 months and from my calculation, we're heading to the 5th month (after his prediction), I just hope he's been witnessing all the happenings in H&C. Does he know that our membership has doubled already? If you're there thinking, "it's fake, it's not gonna last", have you ever thought what if it's real and stays as long as any good company you know? You stand to lose a whole lot more than you ever would have lost if you joined. A privilege pack costs less than N3,400 monthly and less than N120 daily if you care to break it down.

    Anybody that understands network marketing knows that it's not just about the product. We've had so many with wonderful products but bad/tight compensation plan that limits your earnings. The question is, where are they today? So, I think it's really wrong to say we should just focus on the products.
