The Proof of Desire

“Desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”- Napoleon Hill

I have heard many people play lip service to the concept of having a desire. They tell you they desire an education, a better life, a better relationship, a better job, a better salary… and the list goes on. They say they desire, but is it really desire? How do you know that someone truly desires a thing? What differentiates desires from wishes, wants and needs? Is there anything you desire? What are you doing about it? Continue reading

Developing a Competitive Edge

I’m going to be in Ife in the early hours of today, It’s late into the night already, and I’m trying to ensure that everything I’m supposed to do tomorrow doesn’t suffer for this outing. The program is being organized by NESA (National Economics Students Association), and the title of my talk is said to be Developing a Competitive Edge in a highly competitive world. The theme I understand is Entrepreneurship development.

I heard that Pat Utomi was there yesterday to speak with them, so was Gbenga Sesan. I don’t know if all this is deliberate (it wasn’t long I was privileged to speak with the same people few months back), but I’m going to be there later today. I need to bring out my posters and vie for the position of minister of education and entrepreneurship. Continue reading

High return investments in Nigeria

After my post on “Nospetco – How much Longer”, I have received loads of emails and tons of phone calls. I have gotten people calling me from US, UK, Nigeria and all over. I never for once imagined that so many people were involved in these high return, high risk ventures. It is certainly true that wherever there is chaos, there is bound to be an avenue for some to profit. What some see as problems are actually opportunities to others. There is no triumph without trails, no gains without pains. While some people complain that Nigeria is in a state of chaos, it currently is the source of many’s highest returns.

I have gotten a lot of questions about other avenues, I have had 1hr international call consultations, it has been difficult to answer all the mails, I have promised that I will write a post that will tackle all the questions asked, with all that I know, and also create an opportunity for others to provide answers where I do not. I will write my opinions and hope it will be instructive enough to provide unbiased guidance. After speaking with some of the MDs of some of these companies, I also have decided to pair up with some friends to provide similar opportunities, particularly for people who don’t want to get hypertensive about where there money is or what it is doing. I’ll pick all that I know one by one, and expect viewers to add their knowledge, happy reading… Continue reading

7 Life Lessons I picked from Prison Break

Hmmm… Now I need to make this perfectly understandable for people who haven’t watched season 1 of prison break -this 24 episodes attention grabber. Not being a series person myself, I got the entire season one from a friend. It’s one of those films one needs to get one’s personal copy of. I can bet that the person who wrote the script of this film didn’t have a clue where it would end when he started. It’s by every standard a masterpiece. And every chapter closes leaving questions on your mind.

I have spent close to an aggregate of 12hrs on this season one already and I’m very close to the end. It’s been very good for adrenalin, but more importantly, I have picked up some interesting life lessons, reinforced some personal beliefs, and I think I have something to share with you from this master piece. How to Think Creatively

I’ve been inactive for a few days again, I am definitely going to find away around being very busy and writing at the same time. One of the key things that have kept me busy in the last few days is the topic above. The company I work for – Generis Solutions, trained the middle management staff one of the leading banks in Nigeria on – Maximizing Creative and Logical Thinking. It was a 2 days event, very intellectually stimulating and exciting for the participants, and very satisfying for the Generis Team.

In case you are wondering what kind of training this is, this is meant to give you a few of the insights into why this needs to be trained. The human brain does not think naturally, thinking is by conscious and deliberate effort. Continue reading
