Are you Free?

A very good friend of mine – Emmanuel Utomi (GM – Success Power) is speaking in a program on the 10th of March this year. The title of the program is Individual Independence. The program is designed to be a practical workshop that helps participants answer the question of who they are, and why they are alive at a time like this. Looking at the poster before me now, I know I have to be there!
It is no joke that one of the fundamental problem humanity is faced with is the question of identity. People grapple with this, and after a little trial and error, the young chap submits him/herself to the voices around. After all, does it not take a village to train a child?

Nations fight for independence, shouldn’t people as well? I remember an interesting story I recently read. Continue Reading »

In the game of Life – Who wins?

“Life is interesting, we wake up in the morning and wear ourselves out all day, to sleep. Life is funny, we come in with nothing and spend our lives acquiring to leave with nothing. Life is comical, the richest are not the healthiest, and the poorest are not the sadest”- Adeolu Akinyemi

Have you ever stopped in the middle of a working day to observe your environment? Have you ever looked down from a vantage point at the little people way down the streets? I have, and it baffles me that everybody seems to be on a race. Everybody has a goal, a deadline, a busy schedule, something to look forward to, something that is about to happen. People are in a hurry, fast paced, frantic and at alert. I wonder where people are in a hurry to get to, I also wonder, what winning means to these people (myself inclusive), I wonder silently, and now loudly, who wins? Continue Reading »

Team Effectiveness Workshop!

Hello all, sorry if you have noticed I wasn’t posting everyday like I normally would. For the last one week plus, this topic had been the most dominant topic in my mind. We had a training scheduled with one of the most prominent departments in one of Nigeria’s leading telecommunication companies, it had to be right. I have been so busy trying to ensure that our standards were right that I have not had time to update you on goings-on.

The event finally took place, we had the Team Effectiveness Workshop on Thursday and Friday at IITA, Ibadan. All the participants as well as the facilitators were lodged at the hotel, arguably one of the most decent, natural and serene in Nigeria (I haven’t been paid to sing their praises, so let me take it easy). The workshop commenced on Thursday afternoon, we continued till some minutes to ten and started again 8am the next morning till after 4pm. From the comments(both written and verbal) from the participants, we had delivered exceptional value. I personally felt very honoured, when one of the Nigerians I respected and had looked forward to seeing, shook my hands after the training and told me that the whole exercise had been a job well done. Wow! Continue Reading »

“Visibility is more important than Ability”

I have been reading a book, titled “The brand called You”, it is a highly recommended book for anybody who wants to go into business. It is authored by Peter Montoya and Tim Vandehey. Interestingly I have not read any other of their books before, but I have read a book by Al Ries who forwarded their book.

The thought above is an excerpt from the book, interestingly though it was one of my first discoveries in business. This runs contrary to the non political belief system of an employee, afterall isn’t visibility politics? Reading through the book the statement struck me again, and thoughts flashed to mind, truely, visibility is more important than ability. Continue Reading »

How to live past the past

“So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” – John 8:7 (The Bible)

The above statement, though having it’s origin in the words of Jesus Christ, has become an idiomatic expression in english language and is listed amongst regular phrases. It means to be the first to attack a sinner. While the concept behind the reason it was used is very interesting, I’ll like to look at the statement from a different side.

In the particular event described above, everybody at the scene of what would have turned out to be a stoning event culminating in killing an adultress, walked away. One by one they dropped their stones and left. Why? They left because the statement underscores one reality – Everybody has a past! No matter at what point we are at today, all of us have things that we did or happened to us, that still send shivers down our spines. We all have pasts! Pasts that have the capacity to rid us of our beautiful futures, pasts that hunt us, pasts that if we don’t render powerless, have untold power to paralyse our forward resolve. We can’t steer our way into the future carrying the baggage of past mistakes or mishaps. Our past doesn’t have to limit our future. Continue Reading »

NOSPETCO – How much longer!

I try to stay clear of topics that zero in on particular individuals and issues that are not timeless. To clarify what I mean, I always try to write on things that will be useful for a very long time, and not issues that will become history after a while. Principles, values, encouragements, motivations, useful experiences… all these are timeless and would still prove useful on the long run. Issues like Nospecto are however time bound, we all cannot guarantee that it will last for too long. I have however been in many discussions lately about Nospecto, and I have found out that I will not be doing good service to a lot of people if I don’t help them with the information I have that can help them succeed.

If you have never heard of Nospecto before, it is an investment opportunity where you put in 450,000 naira and get 40,000 naira returns monthly, it’s also a joint venture business arrangement, where you share profits with the owners of the company at a rate which makes your share 40 out of every 450 in a month. Nospetco’s arrangement is the standard convinient arrangement for devout muslims, who because of their beliefs in not collecting interests on their money can only be comfortable with sharing profit. Nospetco has made many Nigerians rich today, Nospetco is the reason some people feel more comfortable to live their jobs, but an interesting question we all need to be asking is -”How much longer does Nospetco have to live?”. If you think it’s not a critical question, read on. Continue Reading »

Are your eyes on the Future?

Please read only if you are convinced that you want to truthfully answer the question above.

“It is impossible to teach a man what he thinks he already knows” – Epicelus

The world is transforming at an alarming rate, to stay relevant, people and organizations must be adaptable to change.

I vividly remember a course I was privileged to attend some months back on business modeling. It was facilitated by a French man I have grown to respect, I learnt a lot of things, I also learnt about some vital indices that further corroborate the fact that all organizations that will succeed in the future, must factor these elements into their business models. How to stay strong in moments of weakness

We all have these moments! Don’t feel like you are alone in the world for feeling tired, frustrated or fed up, there are those moments! But those moments don’t just come, they come for a reason. Everything that happens is either cause or effect, and believe me getting tired and fed up is not a cause, it’s an effect.

Carnivals I featured in…

Late last year and early this year, I have been active in a number of carnivals. Canivals are organized by some blog owners as forums to post articles on specific topics. They select amongst a number of interested bloggers posts and post on the carnivals. Incidentally I have been opportuned to be featured in every carnival I submitted requests to.

Submitting posts to carnivals is one other way of increasing your site ranking and popularity. Doing this allows many of the people on the carnivals to see your site, see the quality of your articles and keep visiting. I have put all the canrivals here and I will update them as I get more. These carnivals also have many other great articles on related topics that are so very informative and useful. I’m looking forward to hosting one sometime soon too. Check these ones out and start participating in carnivals today. Continue Reading »
